hello everyone, i made Atlas -- you can try it today

i've wanted a way to puts me back in the driver’s seat, no longer frying my brain with short-form slop.

algorithms already rule the world. for at least a decade, they’ve shaped what we see online, and those effects have spilled into the real world.

for the first time in a long time, ai gives us a chance to actually own our experience on the web. atlas is my attempt at that: a kind of discovery tool focused on long-form written content.

a lot of discussion on here revolves around “the algorithm.” but whether it’s tiktok, instagram, or youtube, the truth is their algorithms are entirely outside our control. they change on a whim and almost always to our detriment.

some people argue for a return to chronological feeds. but in the vast sea of content, pure chronology is useless. it doesn’t respect your interests, and it doesn’t respect your time.

atlas started as a small tech demo -- boosted early on by a couple gracious posters. that made me realize i should really refine this into something usable.

i built it first for myself. but i think this kind of tool is where we’ll all end up. after ai strips the walls from the gardens, and we return to a web of loosely connected content islands. this is my small push in that direction. @TheWebAtlas
