more like 1.5:1 because I made better design decisions in some aspects

oh yea and it's like way faster and stuff

haha get it

I made this because Finder was struggling to recursively open my 20 gigabyte font folder (over 3 minutes)

this is sick

Wow! Explainnnnn

damn, cooking again

Dual pane, pretty please

Sleek

What did you use to make it?

I see GPUI I instafollow.

Please please give open source

how much tokens bro

idk ive been on this for a month to get it right

common GPUI W

Finder is a bad file manager, why would you 1:1 it?!

Can u provide more details on what native components mean ?

How do I download 😮

A 20GB font folder is quite the test case 😄 Did the biggest speedup come from directory traversal or rendering the file list?

Mostly traversal tbh It reads dirs in bulk (getattrlistbulk) on background threads and keeps an index, so a deep folder is a few syscalls per directory instead of a bunch of work per file Icons are cached per file type, and the list only draws what's on screen

Ah, reducing the work per file explains it. Thanks for the breakdown. Curious how you keep the index fresh when files change outside the app.

Cool!

I want to test it, I do not like finder most of time

native components? 👀

Straight from Apple

hahahahahah this is excellent

🔥

im building app kinda based on ui and how it looks, did u hve any limitations in that manner?

why gpui?

speed mostly (also fun)

Share the code. This looks awesome. There's a few finder replacement apps that are really well done. The true test is letting it browse my image folder of 15,000 images.

Nice. Can you share a bit more details on how you are using native components/liquid glass in gpui? I didn't know that was possible (I haven't played with GPUI at all but I would like to)

Open Source?

Github?

Brother man, you need to get this on Web! 🔥🔥🔥

brooooo whatttttt

damn

How how how did you get liquid working. I have to download this i hate native finder
