The ongoing protest in Pakistan occupied Gilgit-Baltistan against India is nothing more than a propaganda stunt. In reality, around 80% of the people in Gilgit-Baltistan quietly support India, but fear speaking out due... to oppression. The locals are well aware that Pakistan and China are exploiting the region’s rich natural resources—especially from the untouched mountains—without giving anything back in terms of development, electricity, or infrastructure. The frustration among the people is growing, but they are unable to openly protest due to military suppression and a deeply corrupt government. Unlike the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which has taken up arms in their fight for independence, the balti people of Gilgit-Baltistan are peaceful and kind-hearted. They occasionally raise their voices through non-violent protests. Sadly, even these innocent acts are met with arrests, punishments, and restrictions, simply because they are demanding basic rights and dignity. It’s time the world hears their voice.
