Hello nerds 🤓. This week we’re looking at the sample inside a huge 1997 anthem, and giving some love to an unsung hero of UK dance music ⬇️

Heard most of these tracks in Stoodi Bakers, Birmingham in the late 90s. So good to finally hear their origins. Spent years shazaming tracks that never could be found! Thank you @AndiDurrant from a fellow nerd!

Blimey, that takes me back. I had a night with Banger Scott in Niche and then spent an hour in McDonalds waiting for Reflex Records to open. Came out with £300 worth of bassline vinyl, with about half a dozen Trotters Indi super sub rockers in there. Awesome.

Trotters Number 5 for Del’s Diner was the one I always remember. Ruff On Wax was his label too, loads of classic bootlegs!

Neil is also Liquid Crystal, with the ‘92 breakbeat piano hardcore track The Power Within, containing a cheeky Mary Poppins “spoonful of sugar helps the medicine goes down” sample. An absolute genius 🙌
