Definitely Helena down there. The Glasgow Block was activated by Dr Mauer who was at the controls, to stop Mark from leaving. The only one that would’ve stopped Mark from walking out that door with Gemma was Helly.

She never saw her family again. When she got to the UK, the family that said they would care for her abandoned her. She grew up completely alone. But she figured it out. She wound up having a successful career, finding a great husband, and moving to America. At the end of our conversation, she goes back to work and we make a date to meet for ice cream.

Had an interesting conversation this weekend with an older relative who's politics are "just be a good person". She's relatively wealthy and gives to the types of causes you would expect this type of person to give. She gives her time too. She is actually a good person. I asked her if she was ever concerned that the causes she gave to would reduce the proportion of people like her in the world. She said that she thought the opposite. That she was inspired by the generosity and kindness of others, and that by giving she would increase the proportion of people like her. I said I believed she inspires her peers, but her peers aren't the people she's giving money to. Do they become productive and generous people, like her? Or is she just increasing the proportion of people who are takers and don't give anything back? Despite decades of generosity, this was clearly a question she had never thought about. The implications made her uncomfortable, and the conversation basically ended after that.
