Hahaha... I remember that. Happened up the lake from me. Trying to land a helicopter in an empty lot next door to a restaurant, where he had neither permission, nor information. Rich people and their little red helicopters. Btw. All were okay.

That’s called dynamic rollover. Pivot point, rolling motion, exceeding the critical angle with power applied. I can’t tell if he caught something on the skid but the odd pitching motion seems like overcontrolling with cyclic. Weird one indeed. Hopefully everybody walked away?

Two possibilities: The “pilot” confused his his cyclic and collective at a really, REALLY, bad time. He just retired from his job as a Robinson test pilot, and he assumed this is how all helicopters land.
