It was a nice change having our vet call ME on the weekend for once - this time looking for someone to take on an orphaned foal whose dam sadly passed and her nurse mare had rejected her. There are a lot of people behind this little filly’s story. Her breeder made the hard call to give her a chance instead of euthanizing. And the nurse mare’s amazing owners poured themselves into trying to save her, all while grieving the loss of their own foals. At a certain point, they knew they were exhausted and didn’t have the ideal setup or time to give her what she needs, and selflessly chose what was best for her, not what was easiest for them. They didn’t hand her off lightly, and they wouldnt’t hand her to just anyone - which makes their trust mean that much more. Between two bottle calves and a bottle lamb, we figured… what’s one more? Trifecta achieved. This sweet little Appendix filly is settling in well. She’s going to take a lot of time and work, but we’re grateful for the opportunity to give her a place where she can grow, thrive, and just be a horse. Introducing Snow Creek Winifred Wild - Winnie -

Sometimes you just meet a dog that takes your breath away. I’ve never seen a braver, cuter or more resilient girl. I let her when I was dropping little Penny into Soi Dog Foundation for her own operation. I instantly just said to myself I have to help find this girl a home. She was sliced across the legs so badly that she nearly died but the wonderful vets saved her by amputating the 2 front legs. I didn’t want to show the footage of her suffering and just instead focus on the positive. She should hate humans and be aggressive and have turned into her shell but she is the friendliest and most fun loving dog you will ever meet. Time spent in her company was an absolute joy. I left absolutely buzzing just being in her company. One of those sorts of dogs. She is very mobile on her own and has no issues with toilets or anything. She is a real little go getter and a dog so pure and full of love. It would be my absolute dream for her to reach a big enough audience where she might find someone who would take her in and give her a little place in the world to call her own. This woman needed to change her American Airlines flight, so she Googled the phone number like most of us would. The very first sponsored result looked completely legit (same aa URL and everything). She called, spoke to an “agent” who handled her booking normally, gave her credit card info for a “flight change fee,” and then the confirmation email arrived… from MyTripsTime instead of American Airlines. That’s when she realized it was a scam. She froze her card immediately and is hoping she’s in the clear, but she’s still shaken. But the real question is… why would Google sponsor a company that’s running a full-on scam? Sometimes the most dangerous traps are the ones that look exactly like the real thing — especially when you’re in a rush. Always go straight to the official website yourself and call the number listed there. Have you ever been burned by (or almost fallen for) a Google-sponsored scam, or any scam?

Why is it that I’m never there when all the fun things happen at the airport. Most of the time I only see entitled passengers or screaming kids. I would be hilariously entertained if I saw a woman ducking and dodging security while wearing running shoes like she’s was in the NFL. This woman was having an argument with the airline, she felt they were being unreasonable, that was the only explanation she gave. So she jumped behind the counter and said what she needed to say only to be met by security and she gave them a run for their money. Imagine being the guard who took a dive trying to catch her, I bet all his coworkers never let that down. Closest thing I ever seen to this was a teenager who “accidentally” picked up the wrong bag on the floor got up and left. The woman who owned it noticed moments later and saw the girl casually walking with the bag. She took off after her, when she finally caught up to her they left all common sense at the door because the woman started screaming at her and calling her a thief while trying to get the attention of security. The teen kept saying it was her bag. It wasn’t until security got there that they realized she did grab the wrong bag and that hers was kicked under the seat. The odd thing is, her bag looked nothing liked the one she took so it was hard to say if it was intentional because she did after all left her own bag with her stuff in it too. What about you, have you ever seen anything happen at the airport? I must take the boring airlines, I always miss out on the fun incidents.

It’s terrifying how fast a situation can escalate; from feeling unsafe in your own home to realizing someone may be planning something bigger while cutting off your resources. Have you met baby Wamata? Wamata is a 2-year-old little girl who is part elephant and part silly goose. She was rescued by my friends at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust a year ago, when she was found alone in the bush without her mom or her herd. Now, she is living at the Sheldrick Trust nursery in Nairobi and is surrounded by other orphans who understand the pain and trauma that comes with losing their family. They support each other in life. At the nursery, Wamata will learn how to be an elephant from the older orphans, but also from her human keepers, who watch over her 24/7 and, for the younger babies, sleep next to them every night so they can be bottle fed and comforted when they wake up in the middle of the night. By the time she is between the ages of 8–10, Wamata, like all Sheldrick orphans, will make her way out into the wild — which is her birthright. She will have her own babies in the wild, and if history is any guide, she will do what many former Sheldrick Trust orphans have done and return to introduce her wild-born babies to the men who helped to raise her. To those raising the Palestinian flag, Where were you when ISIS was launched and beheaded tens of thousands of Arabs in Iraq, Libya, and Syria in the name of Islam? Why didn’t you take to the streets and raise their flags? Why didn’t you condemn the terror and call for a ”ceasefire”? Where were you when Arab dictators and terrorists killed hundreds of thousands of Arabs in Syria and Libya? Why didn’t you take to the streets and raise their flags? Why didn’t you condemn the terror and call for a ”ceasefire”? Where were you in the last decade when Saudi Arabia, backed by 8 Arab countries, killed 400,000 Yemenis, my own people? I didn’t see any of you take to the streets or raise the Yemeni flag. I did not see any of you condemning the terror and calling for a ”ceasefire” while Arab countries were slaughtering my own people. This must lead to some self-reflection. When millions of Arabs are slaughtered by other Arabs, you say nothing. But when 7 thousand of Arabs are killed by Jews defending their right to exist, you revolt, you get angry, you storm the streets in the East and the West, you raise the Palestinian flag, you condemn the terror, you call for a ceasefire, you turn the world upside down. Why is that? Why were you so silent then but SO LOUD now? Can it be that you are finally raising a flag and creating chaos because you only hate that the perpetrators are Jews? Because you obviously don't care when millions of Arabs are killed by other Arabs. Can it be that you storming the streets is just you venting out your hatred towards Jews? The same hatred we learned in our mosques and schools? You speak of ”numbers and proportionality.” But by the rules of proportionality, you should not be raising Palestinian flags.
