JMPD Chief Patrick Jaca tells me on eNCA that when action is taken against some officers he sometimes believes sanctions need to be harsher. Criminals believe they can come to Oakland and get away with crime because police cannot pursue them. That will end on Day 1 of my administration. I introduced my “Smart Pursuit Plan” today alongside business owners, technology and public safety advocates. We must increase the use of drones that allow police to pursue and track perpetrators until they can be brought to justice. We must also expand the use of license plate readers and surveillance cameras to hold perpetrators accountable. For these solutions to be a force multiplier, technology must be matched with police staffing. We will also immediately work towards a goal of 800 officers.

The IO (Investigation Officer) should be terminated. Second, action should be taken against guilty Police officers. Third, Police officials who presented our people before the Court and kept them at Police Station without even a case should be terminated...So, we demand that all Police officials who did this should be suspended. We will go back from here only when our 4 Singhs will leave with us. We should not be stopped, we should be allowed passage to Rudraprayag."
