Serika's "Are You Having Fun, Sensei?" from Blue Archive Fes 2026 I love Serika. I've always wanted to work a part-time job at a restaurant or similar, just for the valuable experience, to see things from the other side, but it just seems too intimidating to do alone. With Serika, I'm sure any part-time job would be fun, be it handing out flyers, acting as nighttime security guards, pulling out weeds, cleaning the streets, being an assistant in a convenience store, patrolling the streets at night, delivering milk in the morning, cosplaying as a miko at a Shinto shrine (all part-time jobs she's done before), or simply working at a familiar ramen restaurant. I'd love Serika to show me how she makes ramen! And, obviously, I'd donate all the money that's left after occasionally hanging out with her to the Foreclosure Task Force, to help settle their, or rather our debt. I'd love to be a part of it. You know, in the idol event, Serika asks the girls what they think of her idol outfit. Why not me? Because "I only ever praise her". To which I reply that I'm just speaking my mind. Because it's true. Serika deserves all the praise and compliments she can get. She's a hard-working, kind-hearted and adorable girl. If only she could do something about that naïvety of hers... I can fix her, I swear. We just need to get married first. Okay, I think I'm getting ahead of myself. But it is important to note that she was the First Princess, the Original Cat. After I rescued her from her kidnappers, she got SO flustered when I called her my princess and myself her prince in shining armour! Maybe because it's because she'd already seen me as her prince charming, so me saying it out loud was too much to handle? In any case, calling me "brain dead" was a bit harsh. But it was cute so it's okay. She's cute when she's angry. But that doesn't mean I want her to get angry. I want her to be happy, first and foremost. Maybe as we spend time together, she could gradually accept that my compliments are genuine? I might have to tone them down a notch for that, which is sad, but it's for a greater cause—Serika permitting me to praise her, and by extension accepting all her good qualities. If she hears me call her cute every day, and she knows I mean it, what choice would she have but to realise that she is in fact cute? So yes, I wouldn't want to make her angry, at least not too much. A smile suits her adorable face best, after all.

About this new Titan Raga ad starring Alia Bhatt (agency: Ogilvy): First impression: Oh wow!! Second impression: Hey, wait...! I watched it for the first time and my instinctive reaction was, "What a lovely idea!". The way Alia dealt with the guy, in front of his wife, seemed full of grace, even though he arguably didn't deserve that grace. But then, a thought occurred to me. Is Alia Bhatt playing a fictional character of a stylish, anonymous woman at a restaurant? Or is she playing Alia Bhatt the celebrity? If it’s the latter, the 'staring' completely changes context. The guy would have stared disbelievingly even if it were Ravi Kishan seated there! And he probably would have walked up for a selfie/autograph. Staring star-struck at a celebrity in a public place is fundamentally different from a man ogling an unknown woman. Did the ad give us any cues to differentiate between the two, right at the beginning? Nope. Sure, if Alia were playing herself, he would have excitedly whispered to his wife when she sat down, but we don't get to hear him say anything to her beyond 'You want to order something'. What he could be saying next, we don't know... and the narrative has already locked us into reading it as ogling, without ever clearing up who we're actually looking at - anonymous woman or the super celebrity. Even when Alia walks up to them, the man's expression could be read as, 'Alia Bhatt, THE star is walking up to us?!'. Only after Alia starts talking to the wife, do we fully realize that Alia is not playing herself but an anonymous woman. And that we should have been seeing not Alia the star, but the character, right from the beginning... a bit too late. The creative asks us to read the man's stare through the lens of male gaze/objectification, for a full minute. But casting a mega-celebrity introduces an alternative, equally plausible explanation for that exact same stare, right up to this point in the narrative: spotting a celebrity in a public place. This is an ad where non-celebrity casting would have served the brand’s message so much better. #advertising #marketing

Shiroko's "Are you having fun, Sensei?" from Blue Archive Fes 2026 If Shiroko was real I would definitely try to befriend her. I've always longed for someone who would encourage me to take working out more seriously—particularly cycling. Right now, my biggest problem with cycling is that I don't have that many cool spots I can go to anymore after having moved cities. And like many people, I'm bad at aimlessly strolling around, even more so at going on a trip without a clear destination. But Shiroko could help with that. She's great at planning (as shown by planning out her tour around Kivotos in her Cycling alt bond story), and I'm sure she would be able to plan several routes of various lengths and change in altitude. And I would love to go with her, no matter what she plans. If there's one thing I'm good at, it's endurance, after all. Throw however many "light 100km trips" at me as she may want, I would definitely keep up. And exercising together would bring us closer, as sharing any enjoyable activity would. Her brain would associate the endorphins released during workout with me being around, as would mine with her. And eventually, we would start dating. Doesn't a joint bank robbery sound great for the first date? How about a simple outing to a familiar ramen place? Or a romantic bike trip to the far seaside, just in time to sit down and watch the sunset, with her head leaning on my shoulder... There's just so much I would love to do together. I wonder how smooth her hair is. I wonder how soft the fur on her ears is. I wonder how much muscle she has, and how much that influences how her body feels to the touch. I would check everything. Stargate Trivia: Casting Stargate: Atlantis While SG-1 was my first love (We were together for seven years!), my time on Atlantis proved equally memorable. The show was possessed of a similar tone in its mix of high adventure and humor, yet proved distinct in its exploration of Ancient mythology and an unfamiliar galaxy as seen through the eyes of a new set of heroes. Atlantis offered a sense of wonder and camaraderie born of isolation and constant danger. Whereas team SG-1 could always go home at the conclusion of their adventures, the members of the Atlantis expedition (at least for those first few seasons) could only draw comfort from the city of Atlantis itself – and, of course, each other. It was unique and compelling yet, at the same time, comfortingly familiar. Nowhere is this more evident than in its opening theme, composed by the late Joel Goldsmith, which is, at turns fresh, haunting, stirring and, throughout, discernibly Stargate. Stargate: Atlantis wasn’t envisioned as a companion to Stargate: SG-1. It was intended to replace the long-running series. The only problem was, with eight seasons under its belt, SG-1 wasn’t quite done yet. And fans (and the network) weren’t done with it either. And so, instead of passing the torch and segueing to a new Stargate series, we ended up producing both. In retrospect, it was quite an achievement: 40 hours of television! Today's productions can barely manage a third that output, but Stargates SG-1 and Atlantis delivered two fantastic 40 episode seasons before SG-1 took it’s final bow. It wasn’t easy, but it was certainly made easier by all of the enormously talented individuals who made it happen, from the office staff and crew to the cast and my fellow writer/producers. Still, it was not without its challenges. Take casting, for instance. It may surprise you to know that, when it comes to producing a show, not everybody cares about costumes or set design or whether the script’s fifth act denouement is emotionally satisfying - but everybody, and I do mean EVERYBODY, has an opinion on casting. Studio and network execs, producers, hell, even your significant other peering over your shoulder as you screen the auditions on your home computer, will want to weigh in. Of course, the more voices in the mix the more likely there are to be disagreements. So it is with every production and Atlantis was no different. Different individuals envisioned these characters in very different ways and, as a result, consensus was only achieved after many auditions, calls-backs, heated discussions, and not-so-gentle reminders that our start date was fast-approaching and we really needed someone to say the lines on camera. The part of Carson Beckett was one of the first we cast. The other producers were in Rob’s office, screening the first batch of local auditions when Brad called me in and told me to check out the guy onscreen. I hadn’t imagined Beckett with a Scottish accent but, after watching Paul McGillion in the role, I couldn’t imagine him without one. He’d brought something unexpected to the part, something we all responded to. Elizabeth Weir was not an easy character to pull off. She had to be smart, confident and strong yet needed to exude a certain warmth and empathy we were looking for in the civilian leader of the expedition. When it came time to (re)casting the role, several established names were considered (One had her own hit genre show back in the day while another went on to break out on a hit show soon after), but it was Torri Higginson who managed to strike just the right balance and vault her name to the top of the list. The role of Teyla Emmagan was a tough one to cast. Like Weir, she needed to be a strong, empathetic leader. But she also required something even more important – quite literally, an other-worldly quality that made her unique. Some equally talented actresses auditioned for the role but, as good as they were, they were never quite able to achieve that gravitas Rachel pulled off with such grace and seeming ease. Former VJ Rainbow Sun Francks won the role of Lieutenant Ford on the strength of a great audition, preceded by an equally great audition with a funny hat. I recall Brad Wright on the phone with our casting agent, advising him to ensure there would be no hat worn in the callback for fear the network would fixate on it. There wasn't, they didn't, and Rainbow delivered. The role of John Sheppard was the second to last one cast. It came right down to the wire and there were several candidates in play. The character was originally envisioned as a good ole southern boy, so it only made sense that Ben Browder’s name was bandied about early. However, he was too busy shooting Peacekeeper Wars to warrant consideration. A number of other actors were considered (one went on to play the lead in a hugely popular show the following year while another made his mark as a handsome heart throb on another hugely popular medical series) but it was Joe Flanigan who won the part based on his ability to pull off the devil-may-care attitude Brad and Robert were looking for. We come to the final role cast, a character who, in many ways, embodied everything Atlantis was about: exploration, discovery, fun, humor, and seat-of-your-pants-Holy-Sh&%-how-the-hell-am-I-going-to-get-out-of-this-adventure. And, as I mentioned in a previous post, he almost didn’t make the trip to Pegasus. Originally, the casting call went out for a completely different character, an earnest young doctor who would lend the team much-needed medical support on their off-world ventures. Unfortunately, no one could agree on who that actor should be. If the casting of Sheppard went down to the wire, then the casting of this final role went a step past it. Finally, days away from production, Robert Cooper had an idea: Forget the doctor character. Why not use an established character from SG-1? How about Rodney McKay? The writers were on board, but some executives weren't weren’t sold on the idea. They found him annoying! Hell yeah, but he’d be sooo much fun to write for! Rob got on the phone and went to bat for Rodney, pointing out that the character had come a long way since first being introduced way back in SG-1’s 48 Hours. He’d evolved, going from annoying jerk to endearingly irritating. To this day, I’m convinced that they weren’t totally convinced but, with production poised to commence, they relented, I suppose figuring they could just replace the character somewhere down the line. No one, even those who loved the idea of having the endearingly irritating Rodney McKay on board could have predicted how hugely popular the character would become.

What I can tell you is that I was very lucky because they set up the lights and the sound. [It was] Robert, Antonio, Elizabeth and I. Robert was operating the camera. I think there was no sound. Elizabeth was moving cable. [There] was not even a [monitor]. And I flipped out. I wouldn’t do it. They were very patient. It was two hours, and I was still not [working] up the courage. $A Navi Mumbai based journalist Sandhya Jain (56), who writes on women's rights and safety, was badly injured in a hit-and-run accident recently on the Palm Beach Road, as a speeding motorcyclist jumped a red signal to crash straight into her scooty. Shockingly, the culprit biker has not been caught due to "poor CCTV camera quality" as the registered number plate of the motorcycle could not be captured on camera on the city's landmark road stretch. For the past nine days, Jain has been lying at Apollo Hospital at Seawoods with multiple fractures in both her hands, a nose fracture, facial trauma and various other smaller injuries. Talking to media from her hospital bed, Jain said, "On May 18, I was driving my scooty in order to go to NMMC head-office at Belapur to meet a civic official for some work. As per the CCTV recordings of two cameras at the NRI Junction of Palm Beach Road, at exactly 4.39 pm, this biker wearing a maroon shirt jumped the red signal and speeded ahead to dash into my scooty, while I was moving forward as my traffic light was green at that moment." A Navi Mumbai based journalist Sandhya Jain (56), who writes on women's rights and safety, was badly injured in a hit-and-run accident recently on the Palm Beach Road, as a speeding motorcyclist jumped a red signal to crash straight into her scooty. Shockingly, the culprit biker has not been caught due to "poor CCTV camera quality" as the registered number plate of the motorcycle could not be captured on camera on the city's landmark road stretch. For the past nine days, Jain has been lying at Apollo Hospital at Seawoods with multiple fractures in both her hands, a nose fracture, facial trauma and various other smaller injuries. Talking to media from her hospital bed, Jain said, "On May 18, I was driving my scooty in order to go to NMMC head-office at Belapur to meet a civic official for some work. As per the CCTV recordings of two cameras at the NRI Junction of Palm Beach Road, at exactly 4.39 pm, this biker wearing a maroon shirt jumped the red signal and speeded ahead to dash into my scooty, while I was moving forward as my traffic light was green at that moment." Jain, who edits two magazines 'Women Zone' and 'Kanchan Kanika', added that as she fell down unconscious on the busy road, the biker simply lifted his motorcycle and slyly pushed it away from the accident scene in order to escape. D: It started through Kru Koi, my singing teacher at the time, who was also her singing teacher. Kru Koi told me, 'Do you know there’s a Thai girl who will debut in Korea?…. She was so cute, this Thai girl is really adorable. I told her that if she ever came to Thailand, we could meet, and that gave us the chance to meet in person. Q: How was the first time you met her in person? D: It felt like meeting a sweet little girl, and from day one, she was humble and polite.
