Can we stop calling abuse just “strict parenting” please?

Some of these are cruel and child abuse. Not being able to get up and use the bathroom is beyond abusive behavior. I can only imagine how the parents were treated by their parents.

My Dad was an electrician so when he grounded me from the tv, he just cut the plug off the cord. When my grounding was over, he installed a new one. 😂

Sounds like my Dad and Step Monster. He was a drill sergeant. She was a biotch. 13 and I had to buy my own things. Everything. Bagged groceries for tips only and that was how I survived. She locked my makeup up and my curling iron in the car trunk.

That’s not “strict.” That’s controlling and abusive. I’ll bet the mom (and stepdad) think they were helping her build character and grow up right, but if this woman is no contact with them today, it would be entirely justified.

I think it is very common for a step parent to legitimately not like their step kids. Wonder how much was driven by this and a real mom who couldn't stand up to her husband.

About 3/4's the way through I stopped it. Why? Kinda contradicted herself 🤔 Her & her sisters used to open their bedroom windows just to go to the bathroom but yet prior to that she claims her windows were securely closed due to her sneaking out 🤔 Sounds like a spoiled lil bish too me 🤔

Wow so her parents abused her and her sister. I wonder what their relationship is like now? I hope they've had some kind of trauma counselling for how they were treated. I had strict parents but this is straight out abuse and neglect

More parents need to step it up with discipline… but some of this is over the top and ridiculous! No child should have to stand in a corner for an entire day, pay for their extracurricular activities at school, have their windows drilled shut, doors locked from the outside, required to pay for clothing necessities, be grounded from reading books, or being told that they can’t take their your own belongings with them upon moving by out! 😡 On a positive note… this beautiful young lady seems smart, well-adjusted, and is living a successful life now. 😊

Your parents clearly didn’t want kids. They should have practiced safe sex if they wanted to avoid becoming parents.

The question is... did she ever learn trust, love, compassion, or empathy from those who are supposed to structure it? It seems that the benefit of the child wasn't the priority.
