I work customer service phones, if someone shouts, is rude, disrespectful, curses. Hang up. Simple. I’m not in the US though. You seem to have to put up with some abuse.

@maurabear_ In fairness, Xfinity brings this out on people. They are terrible. I was on hold for over 2 1/2 hours before. I let it go to see how long it would go. The line just disconnected.

I managed a call center for one of the big cell phone providers. HQ decided to listen to recordings of people who called 10x average each month. They cancelled service to chronically late payers who were violently abusive. Fucking power move. Adios Karens and Kens.
