60 years ago today, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development was established to serve our most vulnerable and bring revitalization to communities across our country. In recent years, we have strayed from that mission — burdening our private sector with regulation, spending beyond our means, and putting politics over principle. For the next 60 years and beyond, we will return to our mission-minded focus by promoting lives of self-sustainability, restoring fiscal sanity, and bringing new life to previously forgotten communities — rural, urban, and tribal.
