My dear friend, mentor and guardian angel, Linda Lavin, died yesterday. I played her daughter in my first big sitcom, Room for Two, and she taught me so much about acting and life. I tried to see everything she was in. She was an electric presence on stage. We had dinner very recently, and she was as full as life and energy as she ever was with so many projects ready to go. My mother had a tremendous love of people, loved to entertain. All of my friends loved my mom and she loved them. Anyone who ever met mom tells me “she was the sweetest.” Her capacity to love was one of her greatest gifts, having her as our mom is ours. I still grieve for my mother every day, but I was fortunate to have my mom in my life for as long as I did, because nothing was left unsaid. She knew I loved her and I knew she loved me. I have said this before but it bears repeating; if you are fortunate enough to still have your mother, tell her you love her, if you can’t see her, call her. Try not to let petty grievances keep you apart because one day she will be gone and all you will have left are memories. Happy Mother’s Day to my momma and to all of the moms out there. 💐
