My beloved mother was a gem, an icon. She was my best friend and my biggest supporter. She gave me life, and she was the light of mine. She was a blessing to me and to anyone who knew her. She went to heaven eight years ago today. I was fortunate to have her in my life for 78 years, yet nothing could have prepared me for the depth of grief her passing would bring. I still haven’t gotten over losing her, and I don’t think I ever will. I know we’re only just passing through, and I believe death is not the end. Energy never dies, but letting go is so hard. I’ll love you always and miss you forever, Mama. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you. Until we meet again. If you’re fortunate enough to still have your mother, hold her close. 🐿️ Now, “Lollapalooza Berlin 2025” is over! You could say all of my plans are over. It was such a meaningful ending, so I feel great, and the fact that I’m finished with this long setlist like this, I have to send it off, but you know it feels bittersweet. But thank you to ARMY who have been with me on this long journey. I remember riding in the car and looking out the window, where everything was twinkling and covered in white that night, as I held you both in my belly for the last few moments before I gave birth to you. One year ago today, I received the news from the Professor that we had lost our Debbie. I literally sat on the side of my bed for two days straight sobbing. Ever since then when anything good happens for me I always say I love you Debbie and I miss you during celebratory streams. I can hear her yelling "GMAAAAAAAA!" She was a cheerleader for everyone in the community, but I like to think I was her favorite. I miss her all the time.

My mother had a tremendous love of people, loved to entertain. All of my friends loved my mom and she loved them. Anyone who ever met mom tells me “she was the sweetest.” Her capacity to love was one of her greatest gifts, having her as our mom is ours. I still grieve for my mother every day, but I was fortunate to have my mom in my life for as long as I did, because nothing was left unsaid. She knew I loved her and I knew she loved me. I have said this before but it bears repeating; if you are fortunate enough to still have your mother, tell her you love her, if you can’t see her, call her. Try not to let petty grievances keep you apart because one day she will be gone and all you will have left are memories. Happy Mother’s Day to my momma and to all of the moms out there. 💐
