This Epstein thing along with all the other broken promises assure that I no longer defend Trump regardless of what he does or doesn’t do. Respectfully, two different things got mixed together. One is the political promises about the Epstein files. The other is the legal duty to protect victims. What got promised versus what happened Early in 2025 Attorney General Pam Bondi said Epstein information would come out. She said a client list was sitting on her desk. She said everything was going to come out. By mid 2025 the Justice Department flipped. They said there was no client list. They said there was no evidence strong enough to charge other people. They said no more public dump was needed. Congress then passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act and Trump signed it. That law required DOJ to publish its investigative files by December 19, 2025. Redactions were allowed to protect victims and certain privileged material. Reputation and political embarrassment were not supposed to be reasons to hide names. DOJ missed that deadline. They released material in waves. Later they claimed they had complied after posting about 3.5 million pages plus images and videos. Members of Congress who wrote the bill say millions of pages are still sitting unpublished or over redacted. They say some alleged co conspirator names got blacked out while victim identifiers did not. An inspector general audit of the whole release process was announced in 2026. So the broken promise on the rhetoric is real. Whether they fully obeyed the statute is still being fought in court and on the Hill. The September 2025 press conference In September 2025 survivors stood with Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna and demanded a full lawful release. That was a demand for accountability. It was not a demand that their own names, Social Security numbers, and private details get dumped on the internet. After the big January 2026 dump, victims lawyers said thousands of redaction failures exposed nearly 100 survivors. DOJ pulled documents and said they were fixing errors. Survivors also asked Congress for compensation for that exposure. Wanting justice and wanting privacy are not opposites. Settlements and NDAs Some accusers took money from Epstein’s estate through the official compensation fund. That required dropping claims against the estate. Separate reporting in 2026 said some accusers signed confidential prelitigation settlements with certain Epstein associates. Those deals came with NDAs that stop them from talking about those specific claims. That is ugly. It does silence people. It is not the same as every woman from that press conference selling out. Different women made different legal choices under different pressure. An NDA does not stop Congress if Congress uses subpoenas. Is DOJ boxed in if victims say do not release my information On victim identifying information, yes, and that is how the law was written. The Transparency Act and the Crime Victims Rights Act both require protecting victims. If a survivor or her lawyer says that page names me, take it down, DOJ is supposed to redact or pull it. Using that duty as a blanket excuse to hide third party names or whole piles of investigative files is a different argument. That is the real fight. The clean line is this. Victim identities should stay sealed. Facts about who enabled the trafficking should not hide behind the victims asked us not to. Both of those things can be true at the same time. He has the opportunity to do something that would fix the country and take out the elite who believe they are above the law and use blackmail on our elected officials and in effect they don’t serve the people as a result. If blackmail runs our country we don’t. I am hoping beyond hope God touches his heart and we arrest and execute these horrible people, but if we sweep these horrific crimes under the rug we are no better than those who committed them.

Trump did not treat Epstein-file release as a core 2024 campaign plank, he did not feature it in rally speeches, policy papers, or repeated talking points the way he did other issues.
