Here Kenny Everett talks about how Freddie Mercury was so unsure about the commercial success of Bohemian Rhapsody before its release due to its length, & reached out to Kenny for advice & support! Kenny famously played it over and over again during one of his Capital shows.

Both of them were regulars at the Bromptons. Happy days xx

Remember first time he played it on his Capital show. In fact, I have it on cassette❗

We would love to hear that Ian!!

How very right he was!

@JamesAHogg2 When I first heard it on Radio 1 in late '75, it was so unlike anything I'd ever heard I literally sat by the radio all day, just waiting to hear it again ... as you did in those days.

@NickyHorne I remember when he first played it on Capital. And again. And again. I was helping my mum in the kitchen and eventually she said “not again!”

I always loved Kenny's cultured, well-elocuted voice. Not a glottal stop, not a slurred syllable anywhere. He might have been banned regularly by Auntie, but never for his speech.

@JamesAHogg2 @Mammabell15 ❤️

I have an eclectic list of about 20 of my favourite people of all time and Kenny is one of them 😎
