Update regarding the “teacher” who threatened ICE: Her name is Desiree Dawson. She claims to be a 4th grade teacher. However, a full search reveals that she is an Aide, not a teacher, and her certificate status is expired. She claims to be a teacher in her bio and has a link to her Amazon wishlist, which requests items for "her classroom." Either she is not actually employed, or she is employed illegally by Houston ISD. THIS WOULD NOT BE SURPRISING, considering that the Houston ISD Superintendent HAS NOT HELD A VALID LICENSE IN OVER A YEAR AS TEXAS REQUIRES. The TEA should investigate HISD immediately. And Miss Dawson, who is supposedly instructing her eight-year-old students to fight against a federal agency and treat ICE as if they're a school sh00ter, should be FIRED.

Last week in Red Hook, I finally got to meet Joan, who my office helped this year after she was illegally held by ICE. Joan and her husband were illegally detained by ICE after traveling home from a trip abroad, despite being U.S. citizens. Days after being released, she got a suspicious call that was inquiring about her immigration status. She reached out to my team, and we helped her right away. Trump’s immigration dragnet is wreaking havoc on our communities right here in NYC. Let’s stop this madness — we need to abolish ICE and make sure nobody has to go through what Joan and her husband endured.
