Disageee. Even by NBA statistics, elite shooters make 40% to 45% of their uncontested shots. So to claim that simply standing in front of NBA players would have no effect on them is false. Because we see them shoot nearly 100% when truly uncontested in practice.

I dont think stand still shooting in practice with no pressure is comparable to in game open shots when they are fatigued and other factors are in play but understand your point.

If Dort is standing in front of Steph and has his hands down it’s not same as Dort not being there at all. There’s still a big ass human in front of you. 5-10% I can go with but 0 makes no sense

THANK YOU!! Elite shooters are not affected by someone standing in front of them in real life Lmaoo if you do you suck! Our MPs are supposed to be on the level of the best to ever do it in the NBA so ion even know how this is a debate.

I have to respectfully disagree Joe. I agree adding "ghost contests" would be bad for the game reduce skill, however it is realistic. U mentioned LeBron, Steph, KD etc aren't affected by people in their airspace when shooting, but NBA tracking data actually proves the opposite.

Joe Knows's profile picture
Joe Knows1 year ago

I dont think we necessarily disagree. Being in someones "airspace" in the tracking data could be considered a contest on 2K. The data just shows distance of defender, it doesnt track where the contest hand is placed, height, "was he holding the RS up", did he jump, etc.

Nah I gotta disagree. You playing good defense on a player and disrupting his dribbling and he pull up in front of me then there should be a contest. The hands up contest already delayed. I’m not saying it should be smothered but there should be a contest somewhat.

Y'all talking about ELITE defenders won't bother you... It's ok y'all will still shoot 85%+ from in 2k26 no matter what Mike Wang chooses to do based on his pole

Fouriin's profile picture

It doesn’t affect them then why they not shooting 70+% from three?

Yall truly misunderstanding what "perfect" position is. Perfect guarding position on a ball handler or more so in issue of 2k catch and shoots. Means that you would be so close that they cant even get the ball up in normal form. This happens multiple times an nba game

Mac10's profile picture

Perfect position isn’t “ghost” irl when you’re JUST in perfect position, offensive players usually make a mistake/are hesitant/are indecisive. 10 percent doesn’t even do that much when you know the shot you’re using..

Absolutely awful take no hate but 90% of the 2k community never played high level basketball if someone is guarding ya hard and ya just pull up and fade the fact is the defender is playing good D and is on ya hip 100% effects ya shot yall just play pick up with bad defenders IRL

@JoeKnowsYT ima put this here for these dumb mfs that think perfect guarding position means u can't get a shot off

bad take ngl, all the “badges” everyone brings up on offense we can bring up the same way it should matter for defensive players. its called balance, and im not sayin it should be 10% but anywhere between 3-9% contest if youre in perfect positioning should be appropriate, it is still easy to green

Lankii's profile picture

Let’s Read What the Challenger Badge says “Improves effectiveness of well timed contest against perimeter shooter”. So please tell me why I have to Jump on every Jumpshot if the man is making 50% I know why because all players have to do is Green Tempo and they can make anything!

007's profile picture
0071 year ago

Should definitely get 5-10% contests . It’s 2k26 we talking about people are greening 20% contests consistently with ease . Yall acting like it would be the end of the world if your getting 5-10% contests by standing on your shoes without hands up

𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘢☆'s profile picture

Should be 1-5 anything over 10% is crazy especially if you ain’t contesting the shot

Ciao-Su's profile picture

You can’t make the “in real life argument” while shooting 70+ percent from three on 3x the volume spamming speed boost and cancels. Just generate a better shot than a closely guarded pull up it’s not hard to actually play team ball

Dontworryboutmeman's profile picture
Dontworryboutmeman1 year ago

The contest needs to react faster when I flick the stick to contest a jumpshot because jumpers are very fast on this game like super unreal kinda fast. So if that’s the case then my contest needs to react fast once I go to contest a shot

Andy2k's profile picture
Andy2k1 year ago

This guy gets it. The problem isn't contests and they definitely don't need another buff. The problem was the impact of height on contests and rythym shooting. All they needed to do was nerf impact of height and rythym. Instead they hurt guards by buffing contests overall.

Shane battier held Kobe to less than 50 percent a few times just from putting his hand in his face and being in position. Soo I don’t know

Did you ever hear Klay talk about KD? Basically said “yeah me and Steph are like the two greatest shooters ever, but even we can’t do what he does… rising up and shooting over anybody on the planet” You think everyone is KD. You’re projecting.. it’s you who doesn’t know ball

L take you want mfs jumping for joy every time someone threatens to shoot that’s not skill that’s a poker face that means the best bluffer wins again NOT SKILL standing in front of someone is not a ghost contest don’t be dense you know what a ghost contest is and that’s not it

LMFAO “that’s cause you suck at basketball” THANK YOU! People keep forgetting that our MyPlayers are literally in the NBA, squatting down in a defensive stance isn’t gonna affect NBA players shot much. At max it should be 1-5%, nothing more, simply get a hand up.
