There are excellent nontoxic wood waxes on the market. A premium beeswax without naming any brand names works excellent.. and as far as around the door knobs that goes just put the blue painters tape around the set that’s up next to the door put a small plastic bag over it and then tape it. This is from a painter that’s been painting for about over 20 years. Most cooking oil is now deemed toxic and they collect dust..
