I think Christianity in America has changed so much from when he was around, all due respect to that legend. Prosperity gospel/watered down stuff from the more liberal sides and religious right fundamentalism is a real and potent force now.

People need to understand that we need to act in a way that is appropriate to our culture and not try to copy and past tactics from other cultures from the past unto our own movement. This can of course vary from location to location in the US. It's a big country.
