Here's one reason why I think startups "hate" #dotnet ๐

Weird. Install SDK. Install IDE. Commence startup.

Install IDE - that's where the love affair collapses. Because a lot of people are using Macs. And, well, .NET nowadays is not that friendly to Mac users.

you don't need anything but the sdk. you can use notepad and the dotnet cli. sorry but stop spreading misinformation. you should really take this vid/tweet down.

Actually, it is quite the opposite

so those startups do not have to install nodejs to start a project or angular cli or those libraries? to set up dotnet, you just download .net sdk and vscode and youโre good.

The guy is probably not aware that .NET is cross-platform for almost a decade already. Want to use it on another platform - no problem. Want to use it natively in the web browser? Sure - learn webAssembly

It is actually the opposite- there are so many JavaScript frameworks, libraries, build tool chains and runtimes that you need to setup per project, and *that* is cumbersome. You don't have any of that with .NET.

Install Visual Studio instead of installing VS Code and you're still writing code in 10 minutes. A startup doesn't give a shit, they're going to pick a tech stack based on their own prejudices/beliefs and sourcable skills.

Well if you can not setup dotnet development environment in 10min on Mac or wherever, you are probably a JS developer who just knows dotnet. Thatโs insane man, if you want to work with JS just do that, itโs not the dotnet problem.

Tell me you know nothing about .NET without telling me you know nothing about .NETโฆ
