Here’s Perplexity Deep Research doing work similar to a McKinsey analyst on the energy demand landscape, future, and the likely suppliers.

Is this deep research mode different from the free tier? Because I am getting very mediocre results and it doesn’t feel like real deep research as you show here

consultants are cooked. doctors, lawyers, and financial analysts should take note too.

Okay, now work on making slide decks!

I also just used Deep Research to check about the latest fight between @AravSrinivas & @sama who is going to win it. I received a very good and thorough research with a nice conclusion!

Epic

That’s actually not similar to McKinsey analyst work. :) Aside from the need to cross-check for hallucinations (as R1 is notorious for them), it lacks industry insights based on non-public data, detailed forecast rationale and calculations data, is not aligned with client-specific context, etc. But it is a good tool for an analyst for the first-week analysis of available open data (albeit IMO OpenAI Deep Research is often more fruitful).

is it only for Pro users? And what is limit per day?

5 a day for free, 500 a day for Pro

@AravSrinivas, great product... It would be even better with a more advanced analytics tool to enhance analysis with tables and interactive graphs.

Okay but are you still mogging sam altman ????

I like it but sadly hallucinate a lot of sources

Thanks for bringing this to the masses it’s been great using it!

Much better than OpenAI, just don’t realize this those who idolize and want a measly attention here from the boy Sam’s Twitter 👏🏻👏🏻

It’s really good, trumped an open source model I tried, went really deep on some esoteric science for my field, had loads of fun on it today

I hadn't realized that deep research required a proper prompt. I've been using it wrong.

Now, Perplexity Deep Research is like a McKinsey analyst with unlimited coffee and no billable hours. When do we start benchmarking AI-driven insights against traditional consulting?

AI tools like Perplexity aren’t just performing tasks... they are challenging how we define work and value. Throughout history, revolutions have shifted humanity’s focus. The Industrial Revolution transformed how we saw labor, and now, the technological era is reshaping how we see intellect and decision making! This isn’t about replacement... it’s about reflection. AI isn’t here to take over... it’s showing us the systems and tasks we have built and asking if they still serve us. It’s inviting us to reimagine what it means to contribute, to create, and to innovate. AI’s strength lies in amplifying our ability to explore, analyze, and iterate. But it also prompts a deeper question: if technology can handle the routine, what is our role in designing the extraordinary? Perhaps the true power of AI isn’t in its answers but in the way it forces us to rethink the questions. Not to compete, but to collaborate. Not to fear, but to evolve. This isn’t about AI taking the place of humanity... it’s about humanity stepping into a space of greater creativity and purpose, beyond what we have imagined work to be. 🌌✨

Focus brother , focus on product more Dont get into social media discussions. Hope you learnt a lesson

I just used this to do 6mo worth of McKinsey work in 1 hour. Phenomenal tool.

with 3 prompts I got this investment analysis in 2 minutes.

don;t give idea bro... let human win the race

Assuminf most Deep Research being Inside Out (I know something about this domain, help me figure out x,y and z) wouldn't it be awesome to ask outward in questions like : what would be the best questions to ask in this domain- Or is that just legacy LLM summarization and QnA?

Will you make Deep Research available in the API / Sonar?

Charge your phone

When can we use it from the Android app?

It invents facts and figures, Aravind.

Impressive research. The future of energy is a complex puzzle

Pretty neat… ran the same query with Deepseek and the limitation I observed was, Deepseek wasn’t able to reference source information in its analysis.

Are consultants dead?

Also like a McKinsey analyst: battery nearing complete exhaustion

At it's current stage, this feature is really bad. Do not even compare this with openai's or Gemini's model..

This is crazy! Also…I was an analyst that helped authored McKinsey’s report on energy demand:

Fancy - what’s the best to validate the output ? With the volume of information being produced, it’s hard to vet & verify (same goes for all other deep research models too)

Don’t insult Perplexity dude. It’s way smarter than a McKinsey consultant.

Someone with access to OpenAI’s deep research should run this prompt and compare the two

okay cool ...... now package this pdt. ( steve jobs would have provided report in a pdf , if it's really enterprise level thing )
