Here's the no BS guide to creating Cursor Rules. I've been asked this a lot recently. So here's a 6 minute vid on how you can create them (and that it's okay to not have rules). Link to the repo in the first reply.

What is the benefit of this if you can add other files as context?

1. These are files you can add, yes 2. Cursor can auto select these files if it thinks it needs it A rule file is different to a regular file of code as it contains rules rather than code. Basically docs over code. If you called the file .md instead and tagged it it would have same effect
