My brother who hasn’t turned on his PS3 or used PSN in over 10 years decided to boot up his ps3 to play something that is currently DOWNLOADED on the console. Licenses are expired and his PSN account is deleted. So games are gone forever WOOOOO!!!!!

People saying he’s not connecting properly are missing the point. The need for any verification on a product you bought is anti-consumer. The ability to plop a disc in a device and play without any additional connection is far superior and is all a person should need to play.

THIS! The fact I cant connect to verify is just the icing on the cake. The biggest issue is the licences should never expire. I still regularly play my downloaded 3DS games from over 10 years ago no problem and NEVER connect that to the internet or login to any account.

That's the CBOMB lock out. You can resolve it by connecting to the Internet and updating the clock. Essentially, the clock battery inside the PS3 died.

Yes but the whole point of the original post is we LOST ACCESS to that account because sony deleted it and we cant play games that are downloaded onto the console. Yes im sure resigning in to that account will fix it but we cant.

I think its just because the internal clock does not function anymore. Check what time and date the console has registered, that might be the issue.

For the account part, sony made a new requirement for old accounts on ps3, you need to sgin in to the account via playstation website then from settings make a new temporary password to activate the account again

try to set your system clock via internet please as the error tells you. You won't need a profile for that and if it works try to get Sony to fix the CMOS issues with how much traction your post is getting thanks 🫶

CMOS battery probs died. Time and date are defaulted to the year 2000. PS3 is showing code 8001 0601 which tells you to set the time and date. Try doing that and then opening the games

This is Caused by CBOMB when the Cmos Battery Dies the DRM kicks in removing access to digital Products aswell as reverting themes bk to default & Renders DLCs unusable, this issue was addressed for the PS4 & 5 but Sony still refuses to deal the PS3 if you care spread the word

Console clock probably reset from being offline so long. Just manually set it to x/x/2010 after you bought the game and enjoy.

U lit prove that u lie. Just sign in with the password Sony gives for ps3 and vita. Go to the PS site with the Email and password. Then Account settings. Device Password. Use that with the Email. Done.

license is attached to the account. if he was still signed into psn it would have worked without internet. thats just how digital games work. buy discs until they’re gone. if it worked the way you wanted where just having the files is good enough ppl would sell/copy drives

This can easily be faked though. I just tried logging in to an account on my PS3 that I haven't logged in for over 11 years and it's still there. Had to set up a different password but it worked.

Have you actually tried reading the error message and following what it says? Genuinely curious if that fixes it. If so, it's obviously still annoying and having to connect to the internet is not always an option, but if it works "gone forever" would be a clear exaggeration.

You have to sign in on the account that made the purchases. You should try recovering your password

Dude I got an Xbox360 that I got from the thrift store and it has hella games still in em I erased the old account from it and I added mine and I still get to play n keep them 🤦‍♂️ ps is cooked
