Here's the single reason why Apple CarPlay SUCKS and Android Auto is MILES AHEAD in terms of usability. There are lots of such annoyances throughout the UI. Who are these UX designers at Apple???

PS: It's the same even on Apple Maps so it's not a Google Maps issue.

I usually drive to that alternate route and let maps reroute. Zero taps.

Take the alternative route, and the maps will automatically reroute you with the fastest available routes. It’s not hard, it’s not stupid if you don’t understand it then learn it. It’s intentional, Apple is trying to limit your interactions to minimise distractions…

That would be a Google patented design item for which apple don't want to pay royalty for. If both the apps are gmaps then in all likelihood, google don't want the carplay experience to be any better than android auto

This is still fine. If i know which is faster, then can start driving on it and it will switch auto. The thing that pisses me off is when it shows an alternate path but doesn’t show which is quicker(doesn’t fit in screen) and you have to zoom out to see ETA for both 🤦
