Here's what my speech today is about. Opening school-based nurseries and rolling out 30 hours of government-funded childcare has halved costs for parents. But we need to open up access, so that children who have the most to gain from high-quality early years education get it.

🔥 Parents shouldn’t have to put their babies & young kids in childcare with strangers full time just to survive the high cost of living in Australia. The Labor Government has been talking about free childcare…. How about making it affordable for a parent to be able to stay home, care for & raise their own children. This is not good for babies & young children but most parents have no choice 💔

Over the last decade I’ve helped several hundred families fight to get better support for their children. Right now the special education needs system is not working for too many children, too many parents and too many schools. The Government has tried to fix things but I fear that they have left parents with more questions than answers. Their changes will leave young people to the lottery of the system and place too much burden on teachers. We need to focus on real support for those who need it and start asking why the number of children with special education needs has increased so much in recent years.
