@AyoCaesar I grew up with golliwogs on the jam jar, collect the cut-out and get a golliwog statue, and then I grew up and realised how degrading and offensive they were. They died with the black & white minstrel show and only a racist would want them back.

@AyoCaesar I agree with this. When I was called ‘wog’ growing up in Britain, it was not a term of endearment!

@AyoCaesar A doll denigrates black and Asian women, yet this is acceptable. I think this denigrates black and Asian women far more.

@AyoCaesar

@AyoCaesar Racists never like to admit they’re racist #Golliwogs

@AyoCaesar As a child of the 60s I remember the Golly I even had a marmalade pin badge. There were books like the naughty gollywog and even Noddy had his car stolen by a gollywog. So it shows that it was a Victorian hangover and should be left in the past and should be a symbol of racism

@AyoCaesar The original title of Agatha Christie's novel was finally dropped in 1985. Fontana's edition in the 1970s looked like this:

@AyoCaesar Its crazy how passive aggressive uks racism is. Its hard to detect until its blatantly in ur face.

@RantyHighwayman @AyoCaesar A bit like this image and what it suggests to North Americans like me.

@AyoCaesar The blowing up of an issue of dolls in a pub to a 3 day media event, involvement of the Home Secretary, and a job for 6 (six) police officers is an example of late stage racism. We are operating in a period of “racism scarcity” where demand for racism is far outstripping supply
