Here’s why I haven’t left California …

I love California, too. I've lived here since I was 4. My parents are here, my brother is here...as are many friends from my childhood. That said, when I retire, I can't see staying here if things keep going the way they have been. I want to live in a safe place where a decent life is affordable. Simple things like a nice dinner or a weekend out of town are getting more and more out of reach.

You don’t sound like a native. My family goes back to the 1880s. My husband’s family goes back to pre-historic California. We aren’t heroes for leaving. We’re survivors.

We went to a Giants game today, gorgeous weather! Now enjoying tasty happy hr in a lovely neighborhood. Cali can be the most amazing place, it just needs so so much help where it does need help.
