Had the same problem. Mnemosyne is a memory plugin for Hermes that persists across sessions, hybrid search, entity extraction, auto-consolidates old memories. Self-hosted, your data stays local.

The built-in memory is decent but breaks down in long sessions. Mnemosyne fixed this for me - native Hermes plugin, hybrid vector + text search, remembers entities across conversations. 5 min setup.

The useful test is orchestration visibility: can you see which agent is blocked, what memory it wrote, which tool failed, and where a human can interrupt? Desktop UX matters when autonomy turns into operations.

This is the category shift: agents stop being chat tabs and start becoming an ops console. The value is not just “run many agents,” it’s queues, memory, approvals, logs, retries, and a place to see what the machine is doing.

The desktop/control-plane part matters more than the hype. Once agents have memory, schedules, tools and long-running jobs, you need a place to inspect state, stop runs, check logs and keep humans in the loop.

Multi-agent orchestration from a single UI is the right direction. Two things I'd want to know: how does it handle agent failures mid-workflow, and is persistent memory local or synced? Those two details usually decide whether something like this is actually production-usable.
