Hermes just made its in-app browser a whole lot more useful. You can now keep multiple browser tabs open inside Hermes Desktop instead of every new page replacing the one you were already using. And that matters more than it sounds. Because this is not just about “having tabs.” It means Hermes can work across multiple pages without forcing you to keep losing your place every time you open the next thing. Research one source, keep it open, open another tab, compare them side by side, and keep moving. Check a few products before buying something. Look at multiple hotel or travel options at once. Keep a YouTube tutorial open in one tab while Hermes looks through docs or another page in the next. And because this lives inside Hermes Desktop, you are not limited to one basic browser view either. You can keep multiple tabs open. You can view two pages side by side. You can stack them top and bottom. You can even run a four-panel view when you want several pages open at once. So the browser inside Hermes is starting to feel a lot more like a real workspace instead of one page you keep replacing. There is also some nice polish that comes with it. Finally, a proper chat UI for Hermes Agent (open-source)! Hermes ships an official dashboard, but it's primarily built for management, and its chat is just a terminal piped into a browser tab. Hermes Web UI is an open-source chat-first alternative. It's self-hosted and points at your existing ~/.hermes state, so there's nothing new to configure. - It's a native web chat, not a terminal in a tab - Sessions group by date with a context ring - Kanban renders the agent's task board - Spaces manages your workspaces - Skills panel lists the full catalog - Tasks panel shows cron jobs - Insights show usage and activity - Memory shows MEMORY and SOUL files - Logs tails the agent, gateway, and error logs The whole setup runs 100% locally, binds to localhost by default, and you reach it over an SSH tunnel or Tailscale from your phone. What can you do with persistent multi-gateway connections in the Hermes Desktop app? I made a quick video showing how you can add multiple local or cloud agents to a single desktop app and use Bot Mode to quickly chat with each Plus, I make a multi-gateway group for agents from three different machines to work together on the same project at the same time. I figured the responses would be quick delayed, but as you see in the video there was very little latency between them This opens up a lot of workflow possibilities!
