I find the theory that we are in Satan's Little Season found in Revelation 20 extremely interesting. This would put us after the Millenial reign where Satan is loosed one last time to deceive the nations. Banning books is a SLIPPERY SLOPE. The King James Bible has been removed from ALL elementary and middle school libraries throughout the Davis School District in Utah after someone challenged its contents. The school district decided to ban the bible after they found that it has "elements of vulgarity and violence not suitable to younger students." A broad new law in Utah prohibits schools from having "pornographic or indecent material". So I want to hear your opinions. Should the bible be banned? If not, then why shouldn't it? Here are my thoughts. Books in school libraries should be segmented by age- appropriateness, if they are not already. Laws should be written to narrowly focus on really bad content, not in the broad way they currently are. Broad laws leave teachers and librarians in a position that makes them fear the laws and overreact rather than uphold the laws in a genuine manner. Should a 7 year-old be reading 'Gender Queer'? Of course not? But should a 7-Year-old also be reading the vulgar sections of the bible? I’d dare to say the meeting took place thanks to the movie. This moving video —what transpires from this encounter— has an immeasurable value for us. To be a firsthand witness to how they hugged and to feel —almost touch— the love they shared among them was the best possible reward I got from shooting this story. In some cases, this was a reconciliation 51 years in the making. If I had to summarize two of the loci that have attracted the most pronounced animus of the young bucks who have roared into intramural conservative disputes over the last five years, those two issues would be “Christian Zionist support for Israel,” just referred to above, and “the boomers.” A major part of the bulwarkiness of the white evangelicals has to do with the boomer vibe that pervades the entire evangelical world. This is not to cast shade on anybody, but as a practical reality you generally have more money forty years after graduation than you did four years after graduation. And so our strategic geniuses of the right also decided that this was a good time to start antagonizing the donor class of the lone bulwark. What could go wrong? Let’s build up a cohort of young activists who distinguish themselves by calling their only possible donor class a bunch of names. “That’s a bold strategy, Cotton. Let’s see if it plays out for him.” Coalitions are one thing, and foundations are another. When you are manning the ramparts, you will have disparate groups all around the top of the wall. You and your folks have down to the Fish Gate, and somebody else is manning the section that goes out as far as the Water Gate. Here’s my review after reading the Gospel of Thomas 😊 Background: Gospel of Thomas is one of the books found by farmers in old clay jars in Egypt in 1945. When the ancient Coptic writing style was compared to writing styles over the years, experts determined the book was likely written between the years 100 and 200 CE. Over the centuries, ancient Christians had quoted Gospel of Thomas here and there, but a full copy of the book had been lost until the 1945 discovery. The book is said to have been written by Doubting Thomas, the disciple of Jesus. Of course the copy found in Egypt was likely translated from Thomas’ original writing some years after he wrote it. After reading it myself, I was shocked to find how very many of the sayings are in the Bible. It is a book of parables only, not the full story of Jesus. Some of the parables in Thomas are not in the Bible. I’ve heard from Christians who are scared to read something about Jesus that’s not in the Bible. When I hear that, I always think of the last verse of the Book of John which says: “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.” So John makes clear that Jesus’ whole story is not in the Bible. How delightful, after telling God I’d love to learn more of Jesus’ story, that I come across these sayings.😊🙏🏼 What’s your take?
