But nobody is disputing this. All we're saying is recognize and respect the custodians of the land.

Here in uk

There’s an aspect of this conversation we’re not having and it’s the fact that Akans are the most culturally intolerable tribe. Here me out on this I’ve nothing against any tribe but Akans claim tribal superiority to the extent they decide not to assimilate to any other culture

He’s right but before every citizens agrees to such a statement, I think the Ashanti’s should also be educated that Ghana belongs to all the other minority groups. It doesn’t matter whether they’re majority or micro minority they should respect and regard the other tribes

The Kotoka international airport is a national asset not a memorabilia for the GA ethnic group. Their sovereignty needs to be respected to preserved their culture. Both Oobake and Akwaaba should be used, they also have a case.

Interestingly, i travelled to Ivory Coast this year, i spoke English and no one understood me but there were people who could speak good Twi and that’s how i got by. I was even actually shocked since they were not Ghanaians but could speak Twi so far from the border too.

One grup started all these arguments..just because Akwaaba is not a ga language so it should be changed because the airport is on ga land..forgetting they have townships in various regions doing their own culture and rights on that land wich doesn’t belong to them..they will get that jon bongo ideas to support them..telling us that we should go back to Kumasi na even if we see a skyscraper..we look up..as if they have a skyscraper

This is how arguments are made. We’ve been to school and we shouldn’t tackle this issue with sentiments. Its facts. I’m nzema and when i go to my hometown i speak twi but i tell them to respond in nzema because my accent is poor i use twi. Still changes nothing about my identity

Akan for that matter. That will make the language sophisticated. Why? Because, there are some concepts, or phenomenon that other Akan dialects have words for, that Twi does not have words for. Akan is the Language; However, Fante, Twi, Nzema etc are dialects of the Akan language.

That tells you your local dialect is expensive

Twi is not for Asantes oooo tom. They are not the only tribe that speak Twi

I still think y’all don’t understand what the Gas are trying to say. This should not be a debate between any tribe and I’m Sure Quaye here speaks English and Twi with his kids that’s why.He is also part of the problem the Gas raised.

Whatever you guys try to prove won’t make sense. Leave the Ga’s let them do what they want. It’s their land. Most of us were born on this land and lived all our lives here although we’re from far but when it comes to a petty thing the custodians want to do you’re offended.

100% disagree. Has it always been so? Have we not seen some languages are dying out? And he’s talking about making one language superior; the language of a people who are to a sickening extent intolerable to others? I do not think it’s a good idea. Make the others popular.

I’m Ahanta buh what he’s saying are facts!

It is true. Asantes are the most migrated ethnic group in Ghana. They are everywhere and one thing they always do is the promote their language. But the thing is you have to also understand what the Ga people are saying. It’s their land and they have the right to feel that way.

Twi being widely spoken is just majority advantage. Any other language could be widespread if its group was the majority. Making it official wld only reinforce one group’s dominance & push others further into the background. Ghana’s real strength is its rich linguistic diversity

I had someone come to my office and greeted me in twi, responded in English. He asked why and I said I understand twi but I can’t speak. He asked abt my tribe and I said GA. Immediately he got angry saying we force our language on people but we don’t want to learn other languages

The fact that everyone thinks Ashanti’s are only twi speaking ethnic group . It doesn’t sit well with me. Fantes and Kwahus also speak twi 🥶🥶

It’s just simple. But Ashanti twitter blockheads will come on here making noise about having their own sovereignty. It’s just dumb where we have gotten to as a nation. Ghana belongs to all Ghanaians and not just Akans

It’s too late.

“He’s a Ga” buulu sane. Who is he?

This is an educated Ga not those who didn't go to school. He understands the country we live in because everything is interwoven in our society and culture. Kudos 👏 to you,you spoke well.

See a fact is a fact Twi is the biggest Ghanaian language we have and we are okay with it but it’s hard to accept that fact when some Ashanti’s keep rubbing it in our faces with every opportunity they get it gets annoying sometimes.

That’s it💯

I made this same assertion years ago after traveling nationwide. I was shocked in Ho market, everyone was speaking Twi. I couldn’t believe my ears. From Wa, Bolga, Tamale. Everywhere.

Because he knows not his history

Twi should have long been a national language and a unifier.. look at China

The Eves (Ewes) especially are very good at learning languages and we cannot dispute that. They can learn and speak other native languages and if you are not careful will think they are natives of that tribe. I think this must be emulated by other tribes across the country.

So because Galanguage is difficult to learn and understand we should all ow other languages to be used to represent our culture right? People really think deep in this country oo. If I was told you said this without me seeing this video I wouldn’t have believed it. 👏👏👏 oobake.

If you have not traveled far in this country, you wouldn't understand what he is saying really well. In a typical village in Navrongo, I will able to communicate with a woman in twi and I got assistance. Twi is our unofficial national language. You can go to hell
