My rescued cat waited a year and brought home a feral kitten who walked in like he owned the place. I found out in short order that the older cat gets 20% of the kitten's canned food as payment. They both never stray more that 20' from their bowl of dry Meow Mix.

My cat is an earner. Kills mice, snakes, patrols the yard with purpose. My dogs are basically teenagers, looking for snacks, barking at leaves. My cat respects me, I respect her. In WW2. , cats on ships had id cards. Job titles (mouser typically) they were part of crew

I installed a doggie door so I don't have to get the door for the cat. It also shits and pisses outside. I can't stand the stench of a litterbox....I'm only the foodgiver. The downfall is sometimes they bring in thier kills to share...or worse, thier live food...bats, birds, rabbits, rats, mice.....FML! Still rather deal with those messes than smell piss and shit 100% of the time!
