Nah MCU is making their own story with Jean and will do the same for the X-Men. They’ll take bits and pieces from Claremont’s run and other authors but not directly. MCU version will be better than Fox version tho cause they got the money for it

Her sister being killed does not explain her psychopathic tendencies until she was arrested she thought her sister was alive. So she was doing this horrible things as a rescue mission endangering innocent people. smiling as she dropped mj and letting go of her mine midway so she could feel the drop is insane. Sure… but was Jean the character to use for this kind of narrative purpose? The X-Men are often feared for their powers while not harming people— she actually was just harming people, especially when it wasn’t even necessary. Many of these actions felt much more like a brotherhood character. Mystique or Emma would have fit this story much better, even beat for beat. Also, Jean is known for telepathy and telekinesis, is she known for mind control?? This makes it seem like she has the exact power set of Xavier plus telekinesis, which she doesn’t. With this exact character set, I don’t think this was good.

This would have made sense if the end credits was Jonah Jameson coming out to say “ forget about Spider-Man because the real threat is the government sponsored mutants trying to control us and take our rights away” instead of the find spider app nonsense.

Unbelievably well thought out summary of Jean’s character arc. She has NEVER been a saint, this is establishing why the public fears mutants. If people are checking out after this they will not be able to handle any X-Men story.

I get this. But I also don’t want a full X-men movie of emo Jean lamenting her crimes against humanity. Like, have her deal with the consequences then use the pain of it to fuel her heroics or something.

I agree, I could sympathize with Jean, but I hate that she got off scott free and I had the same issue with Wanda at the end of Wanda vision Iron man I didn’t have the same issue because his punishment was getting injured by his own weapons and being made a hostage
