I can't believe I'm sharing this, but here is 13 year old Tom, vlogging on his youtube channel from his bedroom. This a video from a channel long since shut down, from the year of our lord 2010. None of it is my proudest work - but I got better as I got older. I learned skills and made friends, some of whom I still know to this day. Making these silly videos over time taught me so much about video editing, talking to cameras, and being effective on social media. I failed a lot before I got better. But I had the chance to try. I developed skills that have helped me enormously in adult life. Had I not been able to make silly videos on youtube - and get motivated/excited about thousands of people watching them - my subsequent life would have certainly looked very different. Some might argue that would have been for the better, but it would have certainly been for the more boring.

This young lady claims she works 40 hours a week and doesn’t make enough to support herself. She wants people to stop talking about how Gen Z doesn’t want to work. She claims us other generations have worked longer and thus can afford to live on our own. But that’s the point isn’t it. She claims she doesn’t want to work for the rest of her life yet says we have an advantage because we have worked longer than them. I always told my kids that nobody rarely ever starts at the top. We start at the bottom, work hard and work our ways up. I didn’t rely on anybody but myself, did I get help along the way? Sure I did, I was lucky to have gotten some help but I didn’t ask for it and I didn’t expect it. My motto is as long as my two hands and feet still work, I will survive somehow. Did I want to go to school for almost a decade? No I didn’t. Did I want to be a part of the workforce for so long, of course not, nobody does. But that’s the difference. I did it because I knew I had to do what I had to do to have an easier life later on. Self accountability goes a long way, I’ve always believed that if I am not where I want to be, the only person I can blame is myself. So no I’m not criticizing the younger generation for struggling. I am criticizing them for the fact they are complaining about it because they expected it to be easy. Going to school, and getting a job doesn’t mean I am automatically financially independent by default, it takes years to reach that point naturally. It’s a hard ride but we will all get there.

I would have a fit if I was told the problem on my car costs less than $10 but the dealer won’t sell it to me h less I buy the part it’s attached to for about $1000. It’s getting more and more expensive to service your own car, there are more rules you have to obey by. I think it could be marketing strategy to sell more of their in house service plans. When I bought a car last year they said that the maintenance can get expensive and they showed me an example of one. Then after they shocked me with the price they said there was a better alternative and offered their service plan which was the price of the one service they used as an example. I know people who went out and bought used luxury cars because they depreciated so much. But that smile went away when they were presented with an outrageous 4 figure bill for an oil change. I know many of us want to drive amazing cars, my advice to you is to do your research on the total cost of ownership not just the monthly payment and insurance.

I am aware of the pain that it brought to a lot of people, and especially to my black fans, to the black community. And I know that I should have. I am very responsible for it. But I really wanted to directly tell you guys that it really wasn't my intention, with me knowing the meaning of the flag, the historical significance of it. It really shouldn't have happened, and it really does not reflect who I am as a person. But seeing so many fans being hurt by it, it really hurt me as well. I had no intention knowing the meaning of the flag, and I should have. There are no excuses to that. But I just wanted to promise you guys directly that something like that will never happen again. I don’t know about anyone else… but after the past 2 months, seeing how parts of this fandom turned their back on enhypen, I’ve somehow learned to love the boys even more. It made me want to support them even harder. I honestly didn’t think it was possible for me to love and appreciate them more than I already did, but here we are. Seeing how resilient and strong they are has been genuinely inspiring to me. The way they continue moving forward with their heads held high despite the hate, the cyberbullying, and even negativity coming from their own fans… it honestly made me admire them on a much deeper level. I’ve become so much more appreciative of them as people, not just artists. And one thing I know for sure is that I will forever be there for these six brave boys. I don’t care what anyone says. They are more than enough. They are the whole world to me.
