Jesus only started 1 church. The rest are man made and false or in schism.

But God doesn't live in a Church, only inside of us. No rituals or clergy are needed to connect with God. We save ourselves through our personal moral choices. Choosing doctrine is moving backwards for awakened people.

Go for it Russell. A few things to actually consider in this regard: 1 - Find somewhere that actually believes and teaches the Bible as the sole ultimate authority for faith and practice. You don't want to go to church simply to hear the ideologies of the day parroted back at you, or just some guy's opinions, or even some good human wisdom from history. You want the words of God. 2 - Find somewhere that will take your faith journey seriously, ask good questions about where you are at, but also challenge you in ways you may feel uncomfortable. One challenge I think would genuinely help you would be a church taking the things you describe as being 'universal' and making the case that these come exclusively from the Triune God of the Bible, who then was incarnated in the flesh in the person of Jesus Christ, who died and rose again, literally in history. That's the dividing line between true Christianity and merely having an appreciation for the moral truths found in the Christian faith. 3 - Baptism. The word literally means dunk, so I lean strongly that way, with great respect to those who do more of a sprinkling. I would do this after having gone along to a good church for a while, and after some conversation with the leadership of that church. It's something that, at least when done as an adult, should be taken after being convinced of the truth outlined in point 2, as a confirmation of that belief. It's an act of identifying with Christ's death and resurrection, and therefore should be done once you believe those things to be true. Praying for your continued journey towards the Christian faith.

Wherever you end up, know that many of us are praying for you. Baptism is important, you will die of your old self and be born again in water and the Holy Spirit. Baptised into Christ through his death and resurrection, so that you may walk in newness of life. You become an adopted child of God, and provided you repent of your sins and maintain faith in Christ, you will gain the reward of eternal salvation. As for denominations, it is a great shame they exist. But it is the wholeness of the Church - the Body of Christ we all make up - that is important. The Church Catholic. My advice would be to go as close to the source as possible. With the Roman Catholics and the Eastern Orthodox you have two halves of the undivided Church of the first millennium. As we pray for Church unity, we should also try and worship as the Church Fathers did. Many blessings on your journey. 🙏

Hi Russell, so good to hear more about what God is clearly doing in your life. I would recommend you find the most local church to you that preaches the whole Bible, operates in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and does not compromise on the truth

There is only one choice, Orthodoxy, the One Holy Catholic Apostolic (Orthodox) Church, founded by Christ and His Apostles in 33ad. In 988ad Vladimir of Russia wanted to unite the people under one religion, so he sent envoys to examine the major religions. His ambassadors described seeing in the great Cathedral of Hagia Sophia in Constantinople Orthodox Church: “We knew not whether we were in heaven or on earth, for surely there is no such splendor or beauty anywhere upon earth. We cannot describe it to you. Only we know that God dwells there among men, and that their service surpasses the worship of all other places. We cannot forget that beauty.” So Vladimir opted for Orthodoxy because of its beautiful worship Orthodoxy in the “right” worship of Christ, and is where we have the fullness of the truth. The Church is not invisible but rather a physical entity, Christ’s body, with Christ as the head. The Church is also the “pillar and ground of truth” 1 Timothy 3:15 and for the first millennia the Church was ONE and whole. This is where you need to be. This is where you will learn and be given the “tools” to obtain Theosis, becoming like God in nature, in overcoming the passions and drawing closer and closer to God. The Orthodox Church is where you will feel “home”. God bless you on your journey! 🙏☦️

Glory to God in all things. I will be praying for you my brother and friend. As a Catholic I see you from a distance and hope that you enter into communion with the Church that Jesus Christ has founded upon Peter, the first Pope. Here you will find joy and peace through the sacraments He gave us. But if you so decide to enter into communion with the Orthodox I will praise God all the same. You should get baptized as baptism will make you a new creature, pour sanctifying grace in your inner most being, through the Holy Spirit, which will give you the grace necessary to live the virtuous life. Without God we can do nothing. Be sure that I will be praying for you and if so willing I have a few books I could send you as a gift that might help illuminate the path ahead.

Only the Catholic Church can trace its roots back to Christ Himself. The Eucharist—the Real Presence of Christ—is not found in Protestant churches. Unlike other Christians, Catholics have a fully sacramental understanding of God’s saving activity. Because of the Church’s magisterium, Catholics have the assurance that their beliefs are divinely revealed truths, not human interpretations and opinions. The Catholic Church, more than any other, gives fitting honor to the Mother of God. More than any other Christian religion, Catholicism takes Scripture seriously. The Church has survived and even thrived for almost two thousand years, in spite of every form of persecution, opposition, and difficulty.

Yes, get baptized in the Trinitarian formula The Catholic Church is the church Jesus created. The best thing to do is ask a priest, they’ll know more than any of us! Just give your local parish a call & they will help with anything you need Praying for you!
