black children must know they will always be judged based on their skin and they have real enemies who do not want them to thrive as blacks. This is not to scare them but they build them up and get them prepared to face the real world.

In commemoration of Financial Literacy Month, I was honored to address students around the country as part of “Teach Children to Save Day”—a day dedicated to empowering young people with the skills they need to build strong financial futures. Treasury Department is pleased to be partnering with American Bankers Association to build stronger individuals, families, and communities one savings lesson at a time. I’d like to thank all the bankers, teachers, parents, and students around the country who participate in the program and help further this important initiative.
