you have "artist first, always." in bold big letters draped in the middle of your website, yet lack basic security features for an entire community of disadvantaged artists that pay you. protection is a necessity; being one of the biggest music distros out here (if not the most popular), you hold an immense amount of responsibility to make sure your users are protected.

what i'm asking for surely isn't extensive. there should be no reason under any circumstances that a person, let alone somebody's stalker, abuser, rapist, etc. should have access to their artist profile and use it as a way to cause harm to them. what im asking for is not only long overdue, but also the bare minimum. consider 2FA for releases + collaborative releases

@DistroKid That is so fucking weird wtf 😳. This should be a basic privacy standard for distros— I’m sure they handle jt perfectly fine for their top billboard artists

@DistroKid this is what i hate the most, protection being a gatekept luxury rather than a necessity

@GambitRaps @DistroKid @DistroKid recently laid off their entire in house customer support team so unfortunately, these issues are only going to get harder and harder to resolve

this lines up, i had originally mentioned in the video (was 6 minutes long) how their customer support had surprisingly gotten worse as they used to have a number to call for support. now everything gets sifted through a FAQ bot, then shot to a support team, then it takes a couple days to actually hear back from someone just to tell you they can't fully help lol

@DistroKid the craziest part is that this is only one of the many security issues of Distrokid. here’s another absolutely insane story showing them not caring about artists

@DistroKid nah this is crazy

@DistroKid this is something spotify needs to fix, there needs to be a 2fa system on spotify for artists, just a confirm button to finalize a release… been asking them to implement this for years

This is INSANE. I’m so sorry to hear you went through this. It’s completely avoidable, like you said. If you’d like some alternative recommendations for distribution, please reach out!
