I have a habit of stopping by airport chapels when I have the time. Most of them have closed down in the US in major airports, but DFW reopened theirs and they’re basically mosques. I had a very uncomfortable experience praying in the chapel on Palm Sunday, but I refused to leave while the Muslims were being so nasty. I refused to leave what is meant to be a temple of the Lord, especially on Palm Sunday. I had a long layover so I waited them out. One man grew frustrated after about 30 minutes and left, but not before others came in. They were clearly having conversations about me in Arabic. They weren’t being shy about letting me know they were talking about me. But I sat and prayed and read the Bible and I did not leave until the last Muslim had cleared out. It was actually a very scary experience given how isolated the chapel was, but I think we need to start staking ground.

Every time they come to have a conversation with me about bad governance, fraudulent elections, and resultant hardship being faced by citizens, I deeply feel sad about the situation. Yesterday evening, I received yet another group of youths from across the 19 Northern states, led by Alh. Adamu Bappa Gombe. They were worried about how their votes don't count and how bad governance and policies impact negatively on their standard of living and private businesses. I reminded them that they have a responsibility to mobilize their fellow young people to keep participating in the process of leadership recruitment through elections. I’ve been swarmed like this while driving in Florida. The kids were in a huge group, I couldn’t tell how many there was but it seemed like 50 of them or more. Lucky for me I wasn’t driving, I was a passenger in an Uber trying to get to the airport. The Uber driver must have had experience with them because he was just driving along like normal while I was thinking they were going to hit us. The rest of the ride seemed to go without a hitch. This woman was just going to the store when they looked like they targeted her and was riding the bikes recklessly. They were swerving as if they were going to hit her and riding while doing wheelies. I don’t know about you but I’m tired of this. I can only speak out against this for so many times until something bad happens and then everyone wants to play the blame game and act surprised that it happened. Am I against kids having fun? No of course not. But I want them to be safe too instead of becoming a statistic. There has to be a better way of dealing with them, maybe ban the unlicensed version and only sell the one that has to have a plate and registration. That would require them to have insurance and proper training. Do I have the answer? No I don’t, but somebody does and we have to figure this out.

I can only speak out against this for so many times until something bad happens and then everyone wants to play the blame game and act surprised that it happened. Am I against kids having fun? No of course not. But I want them to be safe too instead of becoming a statistic. There has to be a better way of dealing with them, maybe ban the unlicensed version and only sell the one that has to have a plate and registration. That would require them to have insurance and proper training. Do I have the answer? No I don’t, but somebody does and we have to figure this out.
