Hi TRIGGERnometry. I find it incredibly bizarre that you're platforming a failed comedian to talk about Iran and Iranian history. This statement by Dave Smith about Iran is 100% factually incorrect. Just because he's a self-hating American with Islamist friends doesn’t mean his opinions on Iran or Iranian history... are based in fact or reality. There was no "coup" in 1953. That's Russian disinformation. The Shah of Iran assumed the throne in 1941. Mossadegh, who was appointed by the Shah to be Prime minister (not elected) was a Soviet-funded agent who tried to suspend the democratically elected Parliament (Majless) and assume total control of Iran so he could bring it under the Iron Curtain. The other member of Parliament asked the Shah to remove him from power and appoint a new Prime Minister, which is a legal process authorized by the Iranian Constitution. Also, we Iranians don't hate Americans. Before 1979 Iranians and Americans were huge allies. The ISLAMIC Republic hates Americans. It's the Islamic Jihadi ideology that chants "Death to America", not Iranians. Big difference. I'm happy to explain it further if you want. I know a thing or two on the topic. Yeah, listen I’m all for debate but a comedian with no credentials in any way shape or form on this issue really has no business lecturing anyone about this topic especially when he is actively misleading your audience about it with patently incorrect information. You really should run a basic fact check yourself before you say your BS: Mossadegh was appointed as Prime Minister by the Shah in 1951, but only after he was elected by a majority vote in the democratically elected Parliament (Majlis). In the Iranian system at the time, the Shah appointed the Prime Minister from among candidates who had the Majlis's confidence. At best what you said are half truths and using the propaganda at the time the CIA and MI6 were using that was later declassified to be BS.
