Look closely at that massive dome. Whoever carved Takht-e Rostam in Afghanistan did not build it up with stones but cut away the mountain itself to leave the stupa behind. We rarely hear about the monks who supposedly engineered a project of this scale in the rock.

Laojun Mountain, also known as Mount Emei, is a sacred site in China with a rich history in Taoism.
