High school coaches need to make that experience a positive one for their players...

The majority of high school coaches I know do this. The issue is the travel ball, AAU's and clubs. They label with "elite" and "select". They give bad advice and then extend their hands for a check.

high school coaches seeing this.... few will have humility to look in the mirror

@RexChapman Thanks for saying that. I was not a good runner in hs. Better at 40 than at 17. Came in next to last on team in state cc meet. When asked how the team did, the first thing our coach said was that ours was the only team where everyone finished. That’s always stuck with me.

@RexChapman Ken Dryden said, “The golden age of sports, the golden age of anything, is the age of everyone’s childhood.” And that’s how I try to approach high school coaching. Let’s not ruin childhoods, coaches.

This is also true for Middle School coaches. It’s not about wins & losses- it’s about making your program one that builds up young folks & gives them things they can take away from their experience that impact them for the rest of their lives. Athletics should build character.

One of the take aways I always remember from the coaches clinic last year 🙏🏽

Totally agree as a high school coach, and since this is a clip I may not have the full context, but why isn't this same thought applied at the collegiate level?

I totally agree!! I’m a HS softball coach myself but I truly thk theirs some coaches in HS that shouldn’t be a coach!!!

Curious how many is “so many” that are not doing this?
