On April 9, 2025, Secretary Kennedy visited Hózhó Academy Charter School in Gallup, New Mexico, a school that integrates healthy eating and physical fitness into the daily experience of its students. The school serves a majority Native student population, and its fitness program is modeled after the John F. Kennedy Presidential Fitness Program, with structured benchmarks for every grade level. We also had the opportunity to visit the school and speak with the Founding Principal Mrs. Juliane Hillock to learn more about the program’s goals and implementation. Prioritizing health and fitness in schools should be a nationwide standard. We commend Hózhó Academy Charter School for setting a powerful example. Hillsdale College
