🇰🇷 | High tensions in South Korea as protests erupt against Iran war deployment plans. South Korea is actively preparing to become the first country to join the US militarily in the Strait of Hormuz — and Seoul has seen daily protests ever since officials confirmed it. Police tried... to contain demonstrators as they took to the streets. With slogans such as "Everyone opposed to the Hormuz deployment, unite!" and "Refuse US military pressure!", activists are protesting near the US embassy in the capital. The demonstrations are organised by Seoul Peace Solidarity and National People's Action, which have urged the government not to bow to US pressure or capitulate to Washington, and vowed to continue the mobilisations. Further protests are planned. Washington has pressured Seoul for months to deploy forces to West Asia. It has never looked closer to reality. Seoul has notified Washington it is willing to dispatch naval ships and maritime patrol aircraft, and local media report parliamentary approval is already being prepared. It would be South Korea's first deployment at US request in 22 years. The deployment still requires that approval to proceed, but officials confirmed preparations are already under way regardless. While South Korea frames the package as "defensive," it would actively supply and enable US military operations against Iran, providing logistics, intelligence and direct cooperation with US forces. South Korea imports essentially all of its crude oil, 70% of it from the Gulf, leaving it heavily dependent on traffic through the Strait. Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei warned Seoul on Monday, in Korean, that any country operating in the Strait would be regarded as directly supporting the aggressor, and that a sovereign state must not yield to US pressure. Just last month, Washington downgraded its most important annual drills with Seoul, saying South Korea had refused to back its war on Iran. South Korea is arguably the most subordinated country in the world to the US military. Under OPCON, it is the only country on earth whose military would pass to American command in wartime. The Telegraph reports that the US doesn’t have enough missiles to return to an all-out war on Iran. At the same time, the US’ emergency oil reserve has fallen to its lowest level since 1983. Military force didn’t work against Iran the first time in fulfilling any of the US’ objectives, and now the US has even less military force as Trump tries Round 2 of the same, failed option. Trying military force for a second time will only make Iran more intransigent and unwilling to negotiate… Which will mean that the global economy and the American economy is at an even greater risk as global oil reserves have been spent on artificially keeping oil prices lower. As those reserves run out, that ability evaporates. The blustering stupidity of American neoconservative foreign policy.

People don’t understand what is going on and I don’t blame them because US Media is imperialist propaganda so here’s the 411: Donald Trump is freaking out because he is not only losing, but this war against Iran is speeding up the collapse of the US empire. Iran taking control of the Strait of Hormuz is going to cost the US $3 trillion a year. Since the 1970s oil has been traded using the petrodollar. Iran knew this and knew it could severely weaken US hegemony by allowing ships to pass if they switched from the petrodollar to Chinese yuan. The other major development that isn’t being covered is the US has spent trillions of dollars on building US bases in order to occupy and control the Middle East. These bases have taken significant damage from Iranian missiles and are being abandoned. The US is not and never was “liberating” Iran, but Iran is absolutely liberating the Middle East from US imperialism. Like all empires of the past the US is no different: It is collapsing under the weight of its own greed, corruption, and barbarity.

The moment you realize the US Navy can’t weaken Iran… Trump stated that NATO countries should help the US ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz, because the US is assisting them with the war in Ukraine. 'We are always there for NATO. We are helping them with Ukraine, but we are separated by an ocean. It doesn't concern us, but we have been helping them. The anger in South Korea is complex. Some are still upset at the removal of their President Yoon last year. Others think the electronic voting system is rigged. Yet others are concerned about President Lee’s current administration and their close ties to North Korea and China. But almost all agree that in a democracy, every eligible voter should have the ability to cast their vote. And in the recent election, due to ballot shortages at certain precincts, Korean citizens were stripped of the democratic process. That’s why they chat “re-election”. Since the demonstrations started on 6-3, similar rallies have been popping up all over the country with the one in Jamsil being the largest. The Korean National Election committee has already ruled out a re-election, but if this momentum continues, albeit highly unlikely, it’s not impossible. Korean politics is fascinating. Because as a democracy, one could argue they do it better than the US. If enough people protest, the government is forced to heed its people. 4 of the last 5 Presidents of South Korea have ended up indicted or in jail, and the dictators before them were forced out of power. In the US, it doesn’t matter how corrupt a President is — you’re forced to abide under his term regardless of public sentiment, and there’s no accountability for the upper political class and their corruption.

The US can apply pressure, but Iran is not Venezuela. The choice to arm groups in Iran instead of investing in peaceful protests eliminated all chances for the movement seeking greater change and freedom. Although President Trump is discussing support for the protesters and possible aid, I don't believe there are resources available for that. Although Iran is facing severe problems with electricity and water, in addition to high inflation and debts from the 12-day war, they have accelerated repairs on military installations as well as in the missile cities. The manufacturing and the pace of refurbishment of missiles produced before 2015 and with liquid fuel, such as the Shahab-3, Emad, Ghadr, and the Soumar cruise missiles, are proceeding at full steam. A country like Iran can recondition more than 1,000 of these missiles in 6 months. Anyone who thinks Iran's missile stock is somehow limited is deluding themselves. The missile cities are fully loaded. There may be shortages of water and electricity in the country, but missile production there has proven to be a priority. Furthermore, a new attack on Iran could unite the country and lead to violent retaliations against various American bases, in addition to closing the Strait of Hormuz with more than 20 submarines and thousands of anti-ship missiles with ranges exceeding 1,000 km, causing daily economic losses of billions to the world. And there's another thing to worry about. The US sent Israel more than 90,000 tons of bombs that were dropped on Gaza and Iran. This left American stocks in a position where they have not yet been replenished. The same goes for air defense missiles from both the US and Israel, which have not yet been restocked. The entire situation is being evaluated by the US. Iran used little of what it has in the 12-day war, mainly because it knew it had been caught by surprise and was without strategic air defense systems. It preserved a large part of its military units. Today, it is likely that Iran would treat any attack and the proportional retaliation as matters of survival. Furthermore, Iran is more under Chinese and Russian influence than American, another point that differs greatly from the Venezuela situation. President Trump is already dealing with problems in Venezuela and now this Greenland issue. Given the weapon stock issues, Iran's potential retaliations, and the matters Trump is still resolving, I don't think an attack on Iran is likely, unless it's something small and symbolic.

Today, South Korea’s Defense Minister Ahn Kyu-baek just claimed Trump is lying about the “No thanks.” Trump said he asked Seoul to help with Iran and got a flat “No thanks.” Ahn’s response today: “Not consistent with the facts.” This is the same Defense Minister who told Air Force Academy cadets that a Mao Zedong quote is his personal motto. Mao, yes. The man who approved the invasion of South Korea and whose forces killed tens of thousands of South Korean and American soldiers. This is also the same man facing serious allegations of deserting the military twice during his own service. A Defense Minister of a U.S. treaty ally who quotes Mao as his motto and has desertion allegations hanging over him… while his government says “no thanks” to America and then denies it. This is the reality under the current South Korean government. Ordinary Koreans are still overwhelmingly pro-American. Those currently in power are not. Watch the hearing (its in Korean btw..)

Iran must be regretting why they didn't heed Trump's advice earlier. US-Israeli Forces just destroyed this B1 bridge in Karaj and the bridge is reportedly the highest bridge in Iran. It is reportedly used by the IRGC to transport missiles to Western Iran for launching against Israel and US assets. At this point, closing the Strait of Hormuz is now detrimental to Iran.
