1. The problem is that no newspaper thats sold in millions in North India carries this news. 2. Such photos won't be published in Jagran, Bhaskar or even Hindustan, Amar Ujala, HT, Prabhat Khabar because majority [journos are part of society] doesn't want to show itself in bad light. Why defame ourselves? 3. When TV channels report, even @sardesairajdeep sb who has been such a senior and serious journalist, would say it rather differently, might term it as 'two sides clash'. 4. No, eminent peopl or personalities with huge following would take it as seriously. Even opposition leaders shun sharing or speaking on it. When everyone has closed eyes, refuse to show reality, action is not easy. 5. These are extremists on streets, this scene doesn't appear on TV, middle class feels no guilt or pressure to accept that a problem exists and this radicalization is not even debated. Instead attempts are made to hide it, due to culprits' identities and non-inclusive newsrooms. 6. So when there is such tendency to lie, hide, suppress, dilute and ignore, how can things change? There is no other way. Will @ThePrintIndia carry a piece by @ShekharGupta sb on radicalization of a community? Never. 7. So there is no boldness and there is silent complicity. One of the most respected journos @rajkalamjha sb may sometime take a bold stance or Caravan, but even basic reporting is not allowed or carried. 8. The few 21-30 year old youth are doing the work, facing risk, either as independent journalists or a working for 2-3 portals. But overall, the big media ecosystem that reaches crores, print and TV, doesn't have any intention to talk about it. Wonder what eminent journos feel about the situation. Cc: @virsanghvi sb
