I think if he spent his free time volunteering in the community she would probably be proud of him. She thinks he's a loser because he's living like a 14 year old.

1. Poor planning: can't go full FIRE while the spouse works FT🤦‍♂️ 2. Childish mindset: get stoned & rot brain at a screen at 41. Instead, learn an instrument, hike a mountain, read books, treat friends to experiences - Live a "Rich Life", FIRE or not 😉

It doesn’t have to be this way when retired early. I use my time to volunteer for a transit nonprofit, doing many of the same things I did when I worked in tech.
