His mom called the restaurant. Her son just got fired for no-showing a second time, and she wanted the owner to know that wasn’t the right way to handle it. Her idea: keep him on, don’t pay him, and that’ll teach him a lesson. The owner told her she’s...

@Texas_jeep__guy No I’m not calling my kids boss. I’d be pissed at my kid for not going to work.

@Texas_jeep__guy Same here. You blow off work, I might even drag my kid in and explain to the boss what he thought was more important than showing up to work.

@CoopandKCmom Not to mention that it would be illegal to allow him to work without pay.

I agree with her. It’s not her job to raise the other ladies kid.

@NobodymrRobert Another interfering mother. Why not teach your punk kid to realize that it was ALLHIS FAULT that he got fired. Told my kid at 13 if she wanted a DL she had to pay for the ins and save her $$. She laid $475 on the table at 16. Been a hard worker ever since.

@NobodymrRobert Parents have bought into the “be a friend not a parent” mentality. That’s the problem. Now kids have no idea what constitutes punctuality, reliability, character in the workplace, or basic responsibilities.

A colleague had a parent of a mid-20's staffer of theirs call in after kiddo didn't receive performance review scores that she thought her child deserved. The parent wanted it reviewed & to have a sit down with all three of them, which was flat-out rejected. Absolutely surreal.

Not to mention that’s illegal you can’t have someone working for you for free. Next thing you know they’re gonna turn around and sue you because they are the type of people looking for a handout instead of having a good work ethic.

No. Mine is 15 and she knows already knows this would not happen. We've told her that while we love her unconditionally and that will never, ever change. The rest of the world does not and that will never, ever change. She has to earn respect and the like. Being responsible is one of those things you have to do as an adult (and teen). I could counseling her to go back to her boss and apologize and ask for another chance, but that'd be the only apologizing that would happen in this sort of scenario.

Wow, I had a friend that when his kids acted up, he handed them a shovel and told them to dig a hole in the backyard. They asked how deep and he said, he would tell them when it was done, LOL.

You can't make people work and not pay them. The list of laws that violates is pages and pages long. The mother is a lunatic.

She has successfully raised a loser. I was in management in food service for 35 years. The work ethic became nonexistent in the last 15. HR had their backs. Let them rack up the no-show no calls. Management would never let you schedule more hours than you needed as a cushion.

Absolutely not. Same goes for school. Vice-principal calls the ball if my kid misbehaves/steps out of line. I had that conversation the very first time they called me over an issue. The helicopter parenting is destructive.

Yes, this is why businesses would rather hire desperate migrants, and then those of us Americans who do show up for work, have our wages lowered due to the increased supply of cheap labor

I can take the person not showing up if they let me know, as long as it’s not persistent. No-showing without a call maybe gets one chance then they’re gone. It’s too disruptive to business…..

This man has his American Bully dog at a park. The dog was sitting in a sit/stay training excercise. He’s had extensive training. He did have a leash on but his owner obviously didn’t have the leash in his hand, part of his continued training. As the owner walks back to him, a gentleman comes up and asks him to please put him on a leash and to hold the leash because there is a lot of distractions at the park. The owner replies “that is part of training.” The owner said “If I thought there was even a small chance he would harm a kid or react the wrong way, I wouldn't put him in that position. This isn't luck. This is hours and hours of real world training, consistency, and building him up around distractions the right way….. Breeds like American Bullies and similar dogs get judged before people even see them work, but this is what they're really about with the right leadership. Loyal, stable, and solid companions.” Some people said the gentleman who approached the owner was putting his own insecurities on a very well mannered dog. He had instant judgement. Others at the park complimented the owner on how well behaved his dog was. What a good boy that dog was. ❤️ Would you be upset if you were at the park with your child and saw this dog sitting there with his owner about 50 yards away? Do you think the owner was irresponsible? Do you think the gentleman had a right to be concerned and a right to remind the owner that there was a lot going on?
