When I shared this video last week of South African businessman Rob Hersov telling us what Trump is doing to South Africa now, many dismissed Hersov as a liar. His words have come to pass! Many are wondering why Trump chose aid cuts for South Africa rather than sanctions or tariffs. The people urging him on and falsely claiming that white South Africans are being persecuted by their government are white business owners and pressure groups. They know that sanctions or tariffs would hurt them, whereas cutting aid will supposedly harm poor black South Africans and the government. Luckily for South Africa, only 17% of its antiretroviral support comes from America, and it receives no other aid from there according to President Ramaphosa! It is time for African countries to wean themselves off Western donor aid. We do not need it; what we need is trade, especially among ourselves, and an end to corruption. Africa is a continent of roughly 1.5 billion people, as big as China, we need to focus on trade. We have been saying this for years, hopefully the leaders will now see some light! And to the Black South Africans who were cheering on Trump, they say you do not kick a man when he is down! In Zimbabwe, we have a saying: a dog’s puppies do not open their eyes on the same day.

Ok enough now! Where are our leaders to finally push back on these insults? Many South Africans denounce violence against our fellow Africans. But, these incessant insults towards us by calling South Africans lazy has to be challenged and rebuked. It is this very rhetoric that is fueling anger. It's Youth Month, a time we honour young people who took to the streets to fight for the freedom of this country. Remember Soweto, June 16 in 1976 and Turfloop, June 12 1986. #FeesMustFall as well as #RhodesMustFall ... Who did that?! Our country is not perfect. We have serious issues we ought to deal with and that's our burden to carry. To continue allowing people with loud voices to call us lazy and spit on our faces is disheartening. Again, no sane South African wants to see innocent people being violently attacked. Many just want things to be done right and legally. Yes, including immigration. It's the so-called lazy South Africans who dealt with Covid and made sure the pandemic does not decimate our part of the world. It is the same lazy South Africans who send our soldiers to wars to help our fellow Africans. We lost 14 soldiers in DRC. RIP Maqhawe! Why are our leaders in government and civil society allowing us to be disrespected and called lazy? If we are lazy, how are we able to use our civic duty to vote in an orderly non-violent free and fair manner? Lazy people allow the politicians to refuse to leave office and rule for life. We don't. If we are lazy why is there order in our country. Our systems are not perfect but many are working efficiently, even immigrants from the diaspora always praise how things work in this country. Many have spoken about something as simple as how queing at the bank is orderly done in Mzansi than it is in Nigeria. Who makes that happen if we are lazy? Who builds the infrastructure, that many the likes of this CEO enjoy when they visit this country? Are there no South Africans working in those construction projects? Companies that run the economy of this country... Who works in those companies? The healthcare sector that is legally open to everyone in this country, who is running that? Are all the nurses, doctors and administrators not South African? You can call out violence and intimidation. You can condemn violence. Hell, you can even call us stupid, if you are so inclined, for allowing criminals to exploit our immigration policies... BUT don't you dare keep calling us lazy! She is constitutionally responsible and mandated to represent SA on any matters abroad, and although SA enjoys freedom of expression, citizens have got no right to abuse that privilege as it was done by Mrs Talabi and her uninformed crew. It is crucial to address any actions that undermine the South African constitution, they must be punishable and cannot be justified under the guise of freedom of speech, Redi Tlhabi must be fined or expelled in the country if she refuses to apologize for her reckless conduct. In countries like China this will be considered terrorism or sabotage. The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) should take appropriate action in this regard. It is worth noting that Redi Tlhabi was not appointed to represent South Africa in the US, and her actions risk straining the friendship between South Africa and Russia. SA friendship with Russia is longstanding and will remain solid whether Mrs Talabi and US like it or not. Russia devoted her entire life and efforts to redeeming SA from the shackles of apartheid that was supported by the US, and for that we are forever grateful. South Africa should not be held hostage by the US due to any perceived benefits from the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA). Instead, it is important to recognize that South Africa has its own strengths and contributions to offer. SA doesn’t need AGOA handouts, we can sustain ourselves without it, the US needs SA more than we need them. Rather, it is essential to foster respectful dialogue and seek mutual understanding with the US, the slave master relationship is over. Patriotism dictates that those who have engaged in biased propaganda campaigns should be held accountable, and we call upon President Ramaphosa to assert our country's sovereignty and demand respect from US politicians. It is disheartening to see journalists like Stevovo applauding such content, as ethical and unbiased journalism is crucial for our nation. Let us strive for respectful and constructive discussions that promote unity and progress, what Redi Tlhabi did is simply distasteful and divisive. I will continue to say that we as Black people have to begin to be committed to taking regions of this country and BUILDING the future we want for our children. America is built with a core standing on “States Rights”. What happens when we become the majority of a voting population in a state and we can shape the policy. When we can elect leaders that prioritize equity. A New Black South doesn’t exclude anyone, it just ensures a place where we can see what building Black truly looks like. We built major American cities. When we showed up, the BOOM happened. I believe in the brilliance of Blackness that we can build the South into the beacon of this nation, economically, culturally, and done equitably. I’m not talking about small thinking. We have white leaders in America that have an entire 2025 Report with their plans to impact everyone in this nation. Why aren’t we being strategic to decide what the future of regions of this nation look like. Currently we have 4 Black US Senators, we could have 10 if we took critical mass in enough states in the south. That power of 10 US Senators is the power to vote as a 10 vote Block in the senate. To advance or hold up things that matter to our communities. To fund rebuilding areas that have historically been neglected. We have to start thinking bigger. And let me be clear. I know everyone won’t do it. Everyone isn’t at the point or has a desire to build. That’s okay. But don’t tell me it can’t be done because you aren’t willing to try. All I ask is that we as Black people dare to believe in ourselves and what we can create in America. That’s how we get liberty and justice for all. Ran:Personally, I feel above all that I wasn't up to par. That's the aspect I regret the most. I think there were several moments where I could have done better, and even in the final tie-break, we weren't able to win the decisive points. That's why I think today's match shows we still have room for improvement. At the same time, it made me realize how much stronger we can still become. Tomorrow, however, we face the third-place match, so I want to move on and focus on that. Naturally, we'll analyze today's match carefully, trying to turn what we learned into our strengths. -Against the United States, one of the key aspects was being able to withstand the power of their serve. He is respectful of the South African citizens. As a brilliant president who rebuilt South Africa after the wasted 9 years, he is a people’s president. How do you remember Hangwani Maumela. Mind boggling that people want the man who rebuilt South Africa, gave us the GNU, which has resulted in billions of dollars in investment, remember a “so called” relative from a previous marriage. To the small island who once ruled the world… come the men who do. 24 years ago, Nike released this advert. It’s trending on social media again. I watched it this morning and it made me cry. I bumped into a neighbour yesterday who has lived in South Africa for 5 years and we were talking about the upcoming game. She’s heading down to our Clubhouse to watch it… as most of us are. And she was telling me how excited she is for South Africa. She’s originally from America but will be wearing her Green and Gold tonight. We started talking about the heart of rugby in our country. You see, the Bokke don’t just play a sport, they play with everything they have. They play for every single South African. They play to remind us who we are. And they play to show us who we can be. My neighbour said, “There is no other nation that does that. It’s so beautiful.” She ignited a core memory in me. It was 1995. The Rugby World Cup was the first major sporting event to take place in South Africa following the end of apartheid. We were the hosts. It was also the first World Cup in which we were allowed to compete. I was sitting on the floor with my brother and sister watching. My folks were on the couch. There was this intense feeling of trepidation. We needed to win. Our country needed to win. “But how do you remember that? You must have been so young?” My neighbour asked. Because it was the first time we felt like one nation. Undivided. It was the first time our country was standing behind a new president and a new flag - together. Nelson Mandela made us believe that we were the rainbow nation. He gave us hope that as a country, we could become more than what we were before. We could rewrite our history. When that last whistle blew our entire team dropped to their knees crying, the crowd flying the new South African flags higher than high and then Nelson Mandela made his way to the pitch to meet Francois Pienaar. Something was ignited in us all. The spirit and heart of how rugby brings South Africans together. So ja, our team don’t just play a sport. They play with everything they have. They play for every single South African. They play to remind us who we are. And they play to show us who we can be. Win or lose, they play to bring us together.
