China’s support to Iran has been unequivocal, very explicit. And this is the reason why Iran has been expressing thanks to the very strong and consistent Chinese support. China, I think, believes Iran still has enough wherewithal to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity. And I don’t think there has been any specific request from Iran for Chinese military help. And this is the reality. So I’m firmly opposed to any allegation that China is supplying weapons to Iran. Iran is fully capable of defending itself because it keeps demonstrating and surprising many countries by the kind of weapons, either drones or missiles, or even missiles with a range of up to 4000 kilometres and all kinds of warheads that they can carry. And I think Iran is on its way to successfully defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity, regardless of the massive amount of losses, including loss of life, that the United States and Israel have inflicted on Iran. China said that US has damaged its credibility with strikes on Iran. Obviously, China monitors the situation very closely. It is of utmost importance to China to keep Iran as an ally (Iran supplies oil and gas to China, a lot of Chinese goods are exported to Iran etc. As an Iranian official once said, the two countries "mutually complement each other. They have industry and we have energy resources".) Iran is also very important to Russia and keeping it as an ally is a priority. Iran is part of a coalition with Russia and North Korea. If Iran falls, Russia will lose an ally, not to mention that Iran would become another example of a toppled regime - not something Russia wants to see. Russia cannot do much for Iran in military terms as all its war machine is directed at Ukraine. But Russia will try and make its support very vocal - for Iran and to side with China.

But rural, traditional forces of order were always able to put them down. In Russia, by contrast, the peasants had no reason to support the tsarist regime. By 1917 there were near-constant peasant uprisings and revolts. This created a massive opportunity for leftists in cities, which Lenin exploited. The tragedy is that the peasants' radicalism helped create the Soviet regime that would later starve and kill millions of them.
