The jaw-dropping plane crash scene in ‘Tenet’ was done using a real Boeing 747, not CGI. Director Christopher Nolan originally planned to use visual effects, but realized it would actually be cheaper and more realistic to crash a real plane into the building. The production bought a decommissioned aircraft and filmed the crash practically in a single massive stunt. The result became one of the most ambitious and visually stunning practical effects ever put on screen. ✈️💥🎬

My wife and I had a great time exploring Old Dhaka, where we toured Lalbagh Fort and the Hammam Khana, a beautiful example of U.S-Bangladesh cooperation in cultural preservation. I also enjoyed testing out Dhaka’s famous rickshaws and sampling the city’s renowned spiced tea and biryani. A visit to the historic 17th-century Hussaini Dalan rounded out a fantastic trip!

Christopher Nolan says The Odyssey is a promise he made to himself at 16, watching a volcano documentary in a dome-screen IMAX in Chicago. Christopher Nolan: "Going to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago when I was 16 years old, seeing a documentary about volcanoes in the OmniMax format, and thinking... why on earth isn't Hollywood using this format? I always wanted to be a director. If I ever got the chance, could I shoot a film in this way?" Christopher Nolan: "I called my friends at IMAX and said, look... if ever we're going to make a film entirely on IMAX, this is The Odyssey. This is the one. Can you find a way to alleviate the limiting factor? The cameras are extremely loud." Christopher Nolan: "What they did is they came up with a way of blimping the camera... a high-tech box that silences it. The thing weighed about 300 pounds. But it let us, for the first time ever, get the quiet scenes, the dramatic scenes, and therefore do the whole film."

I also converted my jet engine shader from GLSL to TSL using the transpiler. It works like a dream😍. I added the Royal Naboo starship in the scene to show how Screen Space Reflections reacts to all metallic surfaces, not just the floor. I hope you like it. Christopher Nolan: I think if you want something to have a bit of bite, you’ve got the imagery to a better threat, even if it’s a miniature, even if it’s something very fake, but something real on camera. Behind the scenes, it was about a strategy to bring about unity and belief, creating a story that bonded together both the superstars and the rookies of this new team - every moment, every decision was made to turn the tide. Standing as Captain was an honour, but this victory belongs to the players, the caddies, and the entire European team.
